"For far too long our society has undervalued the need for high quality and widely accessible education." (Barry Sanders, 2014) Quality education is a key factor for equality in society, it empowers people, develops our talents and helps us realize our potential. It is our human right obtain a quality education. (Unite, accessed 2017) What influences a high-quality education?
Parents are an integral part of a child's education. For this reason, parents must use their influence on what a child values to establish the significant importance of education. Furthermore, these teachers put up with these things to receive moderate compensation in salaries compared to their peers with similar degrees. At the same time, teachers are being challenged by students to understand the need for a particular concept as it relates to the real world. This challenge might be addressed more clearly by using immersive learning. Immersive learning brings together two or more academic fields in teams to create learning experiences. As a result, using immersive learning, the student sees firsthand how to apply their knowledge to real-world problems. Teachers must be engaged with school administration to face and address these many challenges.
Another key point in children receiving a quality education is money. School districts are facing budget cuts at both federal and state levels. Administrations are balancing their budgets with electric bills, transportation and salaries with not much left to work with. Causing cuts in early childhood education programs, summer school, guidance consolers, extracurricular activities, arts, music and the list goes on. These cuts are being made to programs that seem to be a variable in an equation that makes it difficult to realize the impact they have on a quality education. My son Alex has consistently achieved better academic scores when he was busy. The following evidence is a student's Semester Two Report. The report demonstrations that I involve parents and carers in their children’s learning (3.7.2). The report is contextualized as comments and grades provide parents and carers with an insight on their child’s strengths, while also suggesting areas for improvement. This allows parents, carers and teachers to work together to assist the student’s future development (3.7.2). Each semester report is accompanied by a parent-teacher interview. This facilitates face to face interaction and establishes further opportunities for parents and carers to be involved in their children’s learning (3.7.2).

Parental involvement in children’s lives comes in a variety of ways, and the idea of how involved parents should be may vary with different families. Jeynes, in Parental Involvement and Academic Success, states that for their studies “parental involvement” was characterized by “parental participation in the educational processes and experiences of their children.” There are many ways parents can be involved in their child’s academics, several are mentioned in the same work, by Jeynes. Parents may communicate with their children about daily school occurrences, help with and check their child’s homework, let the child know their expectations for his or her academics, and attend relative school functions (42). Lately, it seems, parents are getting more and more involved in their children's daily lives. A parents constant involvement in their child's lives can be a good thing, when their child is still a child and not so much after they have grown up. A new trend has sprung where parents feel it necessary to ,not only, take their child to college but to stay there with them.
The article details why many schools in America have money problems. Schools in low socio-economic areas spend less on students, however, students in these areas tend to have the greatest needs and require additional resources to aid with learning. School enrollment in more affluent areas receive more money and the needed resources and supplements to assist with learning. One example given in the article included a school in Chicago with 22 teachers and 145 students. This is a 6.5 student to teacher ratio. Additionally, each student in the school has an Individual learning plan and teachers with years of experience that earn more than $90,00 annually. The disparity in funding provided to schools throughout America may seem unfair, but
Chapter six – Working with families, the authors talk about parents need to be more involved in the education of their children. We always encourage parents to be more involve in their child’s learning because parents are a child’s first teacher.
A quality care and education program is one that provides the children a safe, healthy and nurturing environment where they can learn and develop emotionally, physically, intellectually and socially. This means that the program should not just meet the needs of the children but also their families. A good care and education program helps children grow as a strong individual as well as an important contributing member of the community.
Many states have factors such as the cost of living, staff pay, and the maintenance of facilities. The average amount of funding per student has a large spread in the United States. The school district in Jordan, Utah spends an average of $5,708 per student each year while Boston, Massachusetts spends an average of $20,502 (Strauss 2014). This spread creates a lack of opportunity for many students across the nation. Children who attend schools in lower income areas of the nation are receiving a cheaper and less effective education than those who are attending schools in middle to higher income areas. School districts within these lower income areas are faced with many issues. They have less money to pay their educators. Many teachers who are in the lower income school systems are new and inexperienced teachers which can lead to lower performance in their classrooms. Many students from low income areas in the nation are coming from unstable situations at home, and can lack a role model in their life. Add the lack of materials due to underfunding in the school systems and those same lower income students are at the highest risk of a poor education. The disparity in our spending on education in different areas of the nation is a cause for concern for our youth’s education. An increase in funding to these lower income schools can help the students overcome the affects of poverty through proper education
Learning fundamental issues about what need to be a worthwhile parent, which is a serious problem in the major of schools,it leads to train considerable skills. Furthermore, student need to be educated when they were as a student. Because, basic educational dexterity such as behaviors and characters have formed during the school days and parents must educate its to children. Teachers need to observe each child as a individual in his or her environment. Each case is considered in many different ways. The case can be a special need for example. Teacher need to study the situation, some cases can be a behavior problem or some can be mental problems. Parents can serve as a guidance to find the problem. Some times parents can give us clue of what triggers the child to behave or to be that way. Parents and family members can give us valuable information to achieve the goal in helping us achieving the goal of reaching full potential in teaching a child. Parents play a very important role in the education of their child because they know all the history of that child’s life.
Over the years, people of higher authority have put public school funding on a low budget. As stated in Sociology in Our Times by Diana Kendall, “education is the social institution responsible for the systematic transmission of knowledge, skills, and cultural values within a formally organized structure” (Kendall, 2015, p.363). Childhood education should not be taken for granted because it is what the child needs in order to function and be successful. How can one cut the budgets of something so necessary for the next generation of America? Children should be provided with the funds to receive an education that they will advance with.
Inadequate training of teachers and high attrition rates are major dilemmas facing the education profession. A study conducted by the National Council on Teacher Quality that included over six-hundred institutions and found sufficient evidence that there are inherent problems with teacher training (Greenberg, McKee, & Walsh, 2013). Chief among these problems are that approximately seventy percent of teaching programs in the United States do not provide current or sufficient training (Greenberg et al., 2013). With the increasing demand of having more teachers to educate children in the United States, providing inadequate and outdated training programs will not properly prepare teachers for the classroom environment. Nearly one-third of new education teachers leave the profession within their first few years, and the main predictors have been shown to be a deficit in classroom management and engagement skills (Shernoff et al., 2015a). This insurmountable evidence demonstrates how there is a dire need for new innovative approaches to improve teacher training and preparation for potential, new, and even current educators. One possibility to fix this is through the combination of virtual reality and teacher training programs.
According to Powell (2003) relations between parents and early childhood educators in the United States represent a mixed picture. Parents have the primary responsibility for educating their children. As the child’s first and most important teacher, parents provide the experiences that promote life skills, abilities, and attitudes that promote school success (Pelletier & Brent, 2002). The family significantly impacts children’s development and is influential in shaping every aspect of their lives (Ortiz & Flanagan, 2002). Parents’ values and perceptions concerning their child’s education are embedded in their cultural system and are multigenerational.
