Social media has changed the way that we communicate, network, get our daily news, map our way around the world, and so much more. One of the biggest benefits of social media, in my opinion, is that it allows people the opportunity to maintain, or even improve, their communication with their loved ones regardless of where an individual might live. Not only does social media open the door to communication with relationships you have already established, but it also allows for the possibility of creating new relationships as well. Online support groups are a great example of how social media provides different outlets to individuals that they might not otherwise pursue.
Social media has also created the world of news media. Breaking news and headlines can now be found as an alert on your phone, as opposed to having to wait and hear about it on the nightly news or in the following days newspaper. This aspect of social media is most beneficial to our society whenever there is a need for rapid communication during a crisis, for example in the event of an Amber Alert. Just recently, my own family experienced a situation where my cousin and two of his friends went hiking in Yellowstone Park and were not seen or heard from for over 24 hours. Thankfully, all three men were located safely, but if it had not been for the rangers and policemen acting as swiftly as they did and had it not been for them having access to his Facebook account to contact his family members, I am afraid the
Social media could help people to know information from worldwide. Social media make everything looks easy. As example, people didn’t need to bring a newspaper, they only need to brng their smartphone then they could open news and read it by online. Which mean people can avoid global warming by reducing paper usage for newspaper.
As much as social media has managed to ruin our society, it plays a positive role for the public as well. Social media allowed people to use their networks as a form of reaching out to old friends and family across the world. With America being known as the melting pot of the world, our society has several people with family on the other side of the Earth. With social media in effect, this permits people to stay in touch with long lost loved ones and keep ties tight. Not only has it sanctioned friends and family to keep in touches but has granted people to relocate birth parents and unknown family members as well. Yes, social media has failed our society greatly but there is always a rainbow somewhere after a rainy day. Social media can play a positive role by bringing people back together.
In today's time, social media is widely used by most people and most who use it claims that it is beneficial to their everyday lives. Many people argue that social media is bad for others because it is distracting them and causing themselves harm by falling or running into others but that is because they dont pay attention, with the right amount of awareness it is very helpful. For some the only way to stay connected to businesses, familly, friends, and world problems is through places like Facebook and Twitter. Social media is more helpful in more ways than one especially when trying to get communications long distances.
There is no doubt that there are advantages to social media. Social media can be used to communicate with people from far distances, in the article the narrator explains “Great thing about these platforms is that they allow us to participate in each other’s lives
I believe social media can bring people together. Not only are you able to reach out to people you know but, you can people with your experiences. In the article Get Over It, Jarvis
One way that social media has helped people is it has worked as an emergency call system similar to 9-1-1. How this system worked was people would tweet out they were in trouble, or need assistance and twitter accounts such as @harveyresucue, during hurricane Harvey, would take the data and compile databases of addresses and names of folks in critical need throughout the storm. Then it would find and attempt to send them help. In the article “Please send help” by Maya Rhodan, Rhodan writes, “‘I have 2 children with me and the [sic] water is swallowing us up. Please send help,’ a woman named Maritza Ritz Willis tweeted early Sunday morning. As 911 dispatchers were not responding, she decided to share her address with her 463 followers and posted a call for help on Facebook. A little over an hour later, she tweeted ‘Got picked up by the fire rescue,’ Ritz Willis shared.” (Rhodan 1) In this article, it shows the effect that social media has already had in times of
Social media allows us to connect to people all across the world. It allows us to stay connected to friends and family who are far away and people who are somewhat close that you may not see often. For example
Being online makes people quickly connected to others which usually can strengthen relationships and friendships. Many who use social media seem to have “more close confidants… friends and was half as likely to feel lonely”. Online connectivity makes people feel they can let all of their secrets out to trusted friends. Making friends online can make people want to go out of the house, according the article Social Media as Community “people using technology spent an impressive amount of time outside the house.” Building strong relationships is easy on
People can travel across the world and still be able to connect with their families and friends. Because of social media networks, people are now able to interact with thousands of others all over the world, which is why some people have thousands of Facebook friends or tens of thousands of Twitter followers. Without social media, that would be impossible. Social media networks allow us the opportunity to share opinions with a far wider audience. In the past, unless people spoke directly, there was no way to get a message across. Now people can use social media to get their messages out to thousands or even millions of people
“Today seven in ten Americans use social media to connect with one another, engage with news content, share information and entertain themselves.”(Pewresearchcenter) Social media is beneficial to our language and to our communication. Social media has improved our reading, stay connected with others around the world, and makes us literate. When reading text messages, facebook posts, tweets, blogs and much more each american could read up to 200 books. Social media helps us stay connected with people that live all over the world. For example, I have a foreign exchange family that lives in Copenhagen, Denmark and I am able to talk to them on a daily basis because of snapchat, instagram, and facebook. I am able to take pictures of what is happening over here in the USA and they send pictures of Copenhagen. We will probably not see each other for a long time so social media is able to keep us in touch.
One of the distinct benefit of social media is social media helps us to build relationship with new people. We could meet with new people who have the same interests as us and that could be the starting point of a great friendship and/or relationship ( Carlos Vieira, n.d. ). This is because social
In a new form of protection and communication, social media is the main thing that everything is using in today’s times. Marketing employees have positions as titled as social media directors. Companies have people watching and monitoring everything that happens with their social media reputation all hours of the day everyday. Young people are seeing the power of social media everyday with teachers demonstrating how fast a picture can be shared across the world. Social media is relatively new and could possibly open many gates for communication. This depends heavily on who is publishing information and news on social media. If news spreads fast on social media, then the use of it can be used for emergencies. If many people are
The social media is one of the most common ways of communication and pretty much of knowing anything and everything around the world these days, and it is growing very rapidly. It changes and affects each person in a different way, or ways. Some may argue that social media has a bad influence on children and young adults, and that it negatively effects their brains, character, or personalities, while most people see that the social media has a more positive effect on them than a negative one. Moreover, social media has helped many people around the world to connect, or re-connect, with each other, easily. Social media is basically the new way of keeping in touch with everything and everyone, and of even strengthening bonds between each
Social media makes it easy for people to communicate and interact with each other anytime anywhere in the world. People can stay connect to their families and loved ones no matter how far they are from each other. That ability to
On the 24th of September, 2017, some nfl players all around the America decided to kneel, decided to sit down or decided to stay in the dressing rooms whilst the National Anthem was being played at their game. This created uproar across the country within the media and is still discussed as a controversial topic. It is disrespectful for anyone to not stand up and place their hand on their heart whilst the National Anthem is being played as it is insulting toward the national military, it is influential toward fans and it is disregarding the whole idea of how they are so wealthy and famous. There is a time and place for peaceful protests, standing in front of billion supporters is not one of them. Athletic platforms are not the way to make a political point.
