The Importance Of Undocumented Immigrants In The United States

What is government? Government is the governing body of nation, state, or community. Government determines the way any group of people are ran. There a several different types of government used all around the world. In the United States for example, uses a type of government that has three different branches of power. The Legislative Branch is the law making branch. The Judicial branch is the courts and the low enforcement. Lastly, the Executive branch is the presidential branch. “Each has its own responsibilities and at the same time they work together to make the country run smoothly and to assure that the rights of citizens are not ignored or disallowed.” (Osborne) Usually, governments break up the responsibilities into two or more groups. Two very influential writers wrote about their views on government; Lao-tzu and Machiavelli. These writers were in very different times which makes it very interesting to compare their views. Lao-tzu and Machiavelli had very different views on the ultimate purpose of government, the obligations of government leaders, and the main work of the state.

I do not really know what brought about this outburst but as an immigrant of this country for many years, I am proud of the different cultures that has evolved from the day I first came here.

Government is necessary in all societies. The government offers citizens protection if the citizens agree to conform to the laws put into place. Laws are put into place to keep order and to protect people from hurting themselves. Without government there would be no laws or order and all societies would have complete chaos. There are many different forms of government and all leaders run their societies in different ways.

The United States and its people are governed by the central force of the government. However, even though the government has been around for centuries, there are those that are still arguing about the purpose of the government. These people include presidents, senators, newscasters, and even the regular people of the United States. The Great man and second president of the United States, Thomas Jefferson once states, “The care of human life and happiness, and not their destruction, is the first and only object of good government.” Through the quote, it can be found that Thomas Jefferson believed the purpose of the government is to protect the lives of the people and ensure their happiness. Thomas Jefferson was right when saying that one of the purposes of government is to protect the people, however, protecting the people isn’t all the government does. The purpose of government is to ensure the protection of the people, their rights, and to establish justice for those who need it.

When looking up the definition of a government it says, “the governing body of a nation, state, or community”(dictionary.com). This helps to understand it a bit more, but what is the purpose of a government. Government has many purposes that keep its people safe and protected, this includes to establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity. There are so many ways that the government is use and there are so many sub categories and even those have categories. Thomas Jefferson was one of the many important presidents in our country. Jefferson states that “The purpose of government is to enable the people of a nation to live in safety and happiness. Government exists for the interests of the governed, not for the governors.” As one of his most famous quotes, we can see why it is so important. First of off, it is portrayed through the quote that the government is supposed to be there for the people. It is not just there to strengthen the country, and leave the people alone, fending for themselves.

The six purposes of government are to: keep order, provide security, settle conflicts, set policies, make budgets, and interact with other communities.

There are many vulnerable populations within the United States. One of the many vulnerable populations are undocumented immigrants. Undocumented immigrants also known as illegal immigrants according to Wikipedia (2016) is defined as “the migration of people across national boarders in a way that violates the immigration laws of the destination country” (para 1). The United States of America has one of the largest population of immigrants. In this paper, I will be discussing the multiple stressors related to undocumented immigrants as well as the programs that can be used to help alleviate those stressors.

Why were governments established? There are many different answers to that question- the reasoning behind government. From my understanding most historians would agree a government exists to protect the rights of their people, as well as to protect the overall wealth of their people. While this may be common knowledge and a seemingly easy concept, some forms of government might contradict this idea of an objective government. An extraordinary author named George Orwell had this concept of an unjust government in his book 1984. The book written about a totalitarian government, a government who is merely concerned for its own agenda, forcing its people to do exactly as the rulers say. As well as providing sublime examples of the dangers of a totalitarian government, Orwell provides examples of what it is to be a human in these conditions, and tells his audience what being a human should consist of.

Immigrants from all around the different country come to a better economic opportunity, good education, and escape from their reality.

Often too much we assume that undocumented workers are taking more and more jobs of American citizens, but that is not the case. Undocumented workers come from other countries to live and have a better living of life for not only them but for their families as well. They often work doing jobs that pay very little for an extreme amount of hard labor from dusk till dawn. If it’s not being a custodian, which the women do, then its men working doing construction. Undocumented workers deserve the right to get paid an equal amount as a citizen does working full-time and overtime, receive compensation benefits for injuries, and the right to be free from discrimination if they aren’t going to lead them to a path towards citizenship.

There are millions of illegal immigrants in the United States, as Markon (2016) argues that the majority are from South and Central America, Europe, and Mexico. They form a population of between 10 million to 12 million undocumented immigrants in the United States. One of these illegal is my father, who came to the U.S.A in 1996 to work and tried to pay the numerous debts that he got in my country; in addition, my country had a large concern where there weren’t jobs and several banks had gone broke because of the change from Sucre to the dollar. What is government? Government is a person or group of people who control and make decisions for a country. It has a number of particular roles to help make a country survive and function successfully. I believe that without the roles a government provides a country would not function and would eventually fail. Therefore, I think government is necessary because without it there would not be any provided protection, resources, and regulations.
