Veterans To My Past And Future

What are your thoughts regarding your ability to work with Veterans dealing with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Substance Use Disorders (SUDS), and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)?

There are so many history stories in history books and on the internet, but the source from people who were actually there is so much better than reading the nonsense. It’s better to hear stories from people who have actually lived and witnessed it rather than just read stories about it. Most students listen better than they read. When you listen to stuff, it sticks in our mind way longer than looking at a book trying to figure out what’s going on. Veterans are an example of this. They tell us stories about the times they were in the training and when they battled, if they did or have already. They have always been an important part of our nation’s history, present, and future. Everyone who went into the military or is currently planning to join has or will have a story to tell. It will be a part of them that they will always remember, the good times and the bad times. So many veterans love telling all the experiences they have witnessed. Thinking of it, it’s not a bad thing; it’s a great thing to be able to say they were actually there. Many students ask what the training is like when they first join the military, although it’s really tough, many still consider going, some even make the commitment to join right after they graduate.      My grandfather, Larry, served in WWII. He enlisted and stationed at Camp Polk. He went through places like New Guinea and the Philippines during the war.

People often say that freedom is not free and that price has been paid by countless brave individuals. These brave individuals are known as veterans. Veterans should be remembered, respected and honored because of their sacrifices, courage, and patriotism.

When I was researching the history of veterans, The only facts that genuinely came up was Veterans Day. There was nothing about the start how the word Veteran came to be or how humans came to recognize the sacrifices that soldiers made for their country. The knowledge that was found was all about the special holiday to cherish Veterans, although none of it was about the history behind why we cherish them. The veterans are a large part of our society's culture, without veterans, several of us would not be here today. The knowledge about veterans is so scarce; the uttermost amount of the information is only about Veteran’s Day. There is little insight into the history of veterans furthermore how the start of soldiers began. Veterans gave great sacrifices so that they may secure a better place for their children as well as the children of their nation.

I want to be an ambassador to help our school with gaining new students for Veterans Tribute. Along with helping future students get used to the school to help them with their decision of enrolling into our school or not and to help them become comfortable to VTCTA. At the end of my Junior year I was inducted in the National Honor Society. Prior to my Junior year as I mentioned in my scholarship letter I without a doubt had no clue to what I wanted to do, after taking medical science, and nursing assistant I knew I wanted to either become an Occupational Therapist or a Pediatric Nurse. Before being a part of Honor Society I didn’t even know it existed, so it truly caught me by surprise. Since the beginning of my junior year I knew that I wanted to challenge myself in classes more than before, that was what I did. "Why are veterans important to our Nation's history and future?" Many people believe that veterans are very important to our past, present, and future because of all they have done. I've noticed that many veterans from major wars have been passing at an extremely high rate, and to add onto that they haven't been getting the recognition they deserve.
