After this semester I feel that I’ve not only developed into a better writer but also have grasped a better understanding of the writing process, which is arguably most important; having a solid foundation for my writing technique is the key to writing well. Throughout middle school and high school, I have always been told to use the "five paragraph format" when writing essays, but now that I’m in college, I understand that I have been limiting my creativity and not expressing my opinions and ideas to their fullest extent. To be a good writer, I must put time and effort into my topic and fully understand the main idea to write a satisfactory essay. So far, I feel as if I’m doing alright. `When I first begin the writing process I always start by typing out the full story. Personally, I can’t sit down and plan what I’m going to write about; formal drafting makes me feel as if I have writers' block. Over the years I have taken bits and pieces of advice about my writing and incorporated those snippets of guidance and suggestions into what my writing style is today. I don’t think I’m a bad writer, but I could work on developing more of my essays into “A cakes.”
In the narrative essay, I chose a topic that most of my peers could relate to and a topic that was very important to me personally. Being a new driver is exciting, however, it also is potentially very dangerous, and I really wanted to capture that in my writing. Your feedback stated that I needed to use more vivid
Scores of composition instructors agree that writing should be taught as a recursive process, rather than a liner process, and they also agree that most writers employ certain writing strategies as they produce drafts. Sandra Perl’s article, Understanding Composing” shares these beliefs because she states: “writing does appear to be recursive, yet the parts that recur seem to vary from writer to writer and from topic to topic” (142). Perl explains that throughout the writing process, writers employ a “forward-moving action that exists by virtue of
As the semester approaches a conclusion, I have discovered for myself that I happen to exhibit not simply on how I have endured this semester, but then again also what I have gained in knowledge of. In the past four months, I would consider that I obtain an accomplishment of achievement in improving my writing techniques. The most important principle that I have discovered so far ensues on how to become an improved writer. With each writing assignment, I learned additional methods and skills, which tweaked my capabilities to develop my thoughts in detail on paper, to write clearly, and to organize my essays efficiently. In previous years, I would frequently catch myself irritated believing I had terrible writer’s block standing in my path of writing an organized essay. This created a feeling as if I could not distinguish how to write properly and the reasoning behind my hatred for writing. During high school, I learned the Modern Language Association (MLA) formats for bibliographies and parenthetical citations, consequently at the beginning of the fall semester, I knew only this format. I was able to learned the correct format for the American Psychological Association (APA) style when doing each assignment at hand.
There are many components involved in the writing process that are important to incorporate in your essay to make it a strong well constructed piece. Knowledge about the writing process is needed in order to succeed. Without the proper the knowledge there will be no direction throughout the paper. There are many different ways to write, but it is necessary to include in depth research, a strong thesis that pulls your audience into the paper, and organizational skills to create a backbone for a strong complete essay.
I entered my first-year college composition course believing I was equipped with the knowledge, skill, and ability to write an efficiently researched and well-organized essay. In high school, I learned how to create the traditional five-paragraph paper with its introduction of a thesis, explanation of that claim through three sections riddled with supporting quotes, and conclusion that restated the author’s substantiated statement. This was the prescribed formula I had learned and grown accustomed to using for book reports, compare-and-contrast papers, and research essays and, from my bestowment of high grades and praise, I’d never thought to question or deviate from its pattern. When I attended my first college writing class, I thought
As students preparing for a successful career field we will all find a time when we need to effectively communicate on paper. Some of the challenges that I face in my writing is developing my thoughts into organized, presentable sentences. One thing that I am able to do well is having the creativity to generate the thought process without much planning. I do not have much need for brainstorming or outlines in order to get ideas flowing. This has its detriment to my writing, however. Since my ideas flow so easily, I have had a tenancy to miss some of the key points of assignment outlines. To mitigate this, in the future, I will need to ensure I make adequate time available to prepare for assignments.
As a writer, I can adopt a system of writing that I can use most of the time. To be involved through all the composing process, I need to gather all the tools that I need such as paper and a pen, a typewriter, or a computer. I must also choose a suitable writing environment or place, and then apply my writing techniques and skills. The writing process has different ways and steps, allowing each writer to develop his or her writing in his or her own way. By describing all the steps I go through when writing, I really show my unique style of writing which can be different from the style used by others.
Over the first and second quarters of Dual Enrollment English at Brooke Point High School, I have grown immensely as a writer. I learned a great deal about how to write a paper, as well as, about myself. In the beginning of this course, I felt as if my assignments were going to overwhelm me; I also felt apathetic about completing them. This led me to create my own personal agenda as to how I would complete my assignments. My plan was to overcome my weaknesses and enhance my strengths within the construction my essays, depth of paragraphs and overall assignments.
The writing process consists of a series of actions that may seem tedious, but will help a person become a good writer. At first, the process may seem lengthy but once a person gets the hang of it, the process will help a person out for the rest of their life. Of course the start of the writing process begins with brainstorming a topic, which then leads to researching the topic, reading the references of the topic to highlight the important features, starting an outline and begin writing observations and of course ending with editing and submitting final copy.
In the 1980s, there was a movie called "Xanadu". It starred Olivia Newton-John as Kira, a muse and one of the daughters of Zeus who, along with her sisters, inspired men to do great things in the arts. She falls in love with Sonny, an artist and inspires him to find his passion and fulfill his true potential even if the gods forbade their relationship.
One of the most important parts about writing is the process behind it. An essay should consist of an introduction, a body and a conclusion. Even though essays seems very mind boggling, it is actually an easy process if following the correct writing steps. It can be even easier if the writer enjoys the topic of the essay. There are certain steps a writer must take to keep a reader interested while showing enthusiasm for them wanting to learn more. These steps follow a set of guidelines including planning, free writing, revising and editing.
Writing is a big role in a nursing career. Nurses have to communicate efficiently to document or relay information. Learning to write well is an essential skill for nurses because it is vital to show evidence for the critical thinking process. Some of the writing qualities nurses have to exhume are to be clear in documentation for description and thought process skills. Also organize timeline of events for electronic chart records. In the narrative essay, I chose a topic that most of my peers could relate to and a topic that was very important to me personally. Being a new driver is exciting, however, it also is potentially very dangerous, and I really wanted to capture that in my writing. Your feedback stated that I needed to use more vivid wording; in other words, create an imagine that everyone could see. I think I did so in the beginning by capturing the picture of a cold winter day in December. Though I enjoyed writing the narrative, I experienced quite a few moments during which I wanted to give up. Narratives are supposed to be like telling a story, but when guidelines are put to it I feel like all the creativity is taken out; I feel as if I'm being limited. I need to improve on my ability o adapt to certain prompts and required writing styles, as I realize there are going to be many more writing assignments I will have to complete in a certain way.
My friend is going to take a GENENG-103 introduction to College Writing, and I think it is important that before my friend takes the class that he or she understands that writing is a processes. He or she will first need to know what the 5 steps of the writing the process are: pre-writing, writing out a draft, revising, proof reading, and then the final draft. A pre write is time for you to think and find your idea. After you have found your idea and thesis statement you will then start the outline of the paper. After you have your outline written out you can start your rough draft. Your rough draft is the time to write everything down. You will be making sure that your thoughts are organized, that you have developed

During this semester, I have strengthened my writing by trying new writing techniques, learning about purpose, and finding new ways of combating writers block. My first essay in this class was less focused then the essays I wrote later in
