The Importance of Information and Communications Technology
Information and communications technology (ICT) is generally regarded as the overlap of computer information and telecommunications technologies, and their applications. In this document the term ICT is used to indicate the whole range of technologies involved in information processing and electronic communications, including the internet, electronic mail and videoconferencing.
In recent years ICT has had, and is continuing to have, an increasingly significant impact on all aspects of society. There are few areas of life, at home and in work, where this new technology has not made an impact. ICT expands our access to, and understanding

It is thus of vital importance that all young people have adequate access to ICT and that they develop the necessary skills, taking full advantage of the learning capabilities that ICT offers. Schools have a special responsibility to ensure that young people receive the provision that they are entitled to. As the 5-14 stages represent 9 out of the 11 years of compulsory education, they have a key role to play in developing ICT capability.
Several aspects of ICT are particularly significant for schools. These are:
· the importance of developing ICT skills to meet the needs of the individual and society
· exploiting the potential of ICT to support learning and teaching across the curriculum
· the uses of ICT to support broader educational aims, such as positive dispositions towards learning, enhanced presentation of work, problem solving and investigative approaches
· the potential for communicating and researching locally and globally, including access to a global bank of information
· the ability to share ideas and work collaboratively
· the ability to access expertise through a variety of techniques.
Ultimately the educational purpose of ICT should be to assist pupils to play their full part in society. They should be well informed about the current and potential applications of ICT and be skilled and effective in using them. They
learners will find it very difficult to succeed in education, work and life without a solid grounding in basic level of English, maths and ICT skills. The ability to communicate easily with others, read and even understand information, maths is in everyday of our life to solve problems and use a range of current information. ICT is very important in any educational course or job that the learner might want to into. Information communication technology (ICT) helps to learn theoretic development discoveries, treatment and support techniques for education and curriculum. It gives teachers, higher level teaching assistant (HLTA) and children access to educational resources from around the globe anytime and day. While using ICT, children learn concepts, history, ideas, theories and practices across culture when it is use in their classroom. HLTA and teachers however have to know how and why they are using ICT and incorporate the concepts in: social responsibility, creativity, communication, culture sensitivity, decision making technology application and usage. According to Andrews et al. (2006, p.5) “ICT has been defined as including stand-alone computers, networked technologies with a multimodal interface, mobile phones with the capacity for a range of types of communication, and other technologies that allow multimodal and interactive communication.”

Within my setting, ICT is an opportunity for children to apply and develop their knowledge and capability. With my help, they can research, question accuracy of sites and exchange and share information together and through emails (we also share with a neighbouring school and have class blogs). It is generally accepted that information is a vital commodity for the successful operation of today’s organizations. Nowadays modern business organizations are using computerized information systems in order to obtain such information. However as the technology advances rapidly the main issue is how can an organization should effectively use such an information system - which its management sometimes can be unpredictable - in order to effectively help the whole organization structure to improve and take the most out of it.

Information literacy skills are used for academic purposes, such as research papers and group presentations. They are used on the job—the ability to find, evaluate, use and share information is an essential skill. They are also used in consumer decisions, such as which car or vacuum cleaner to purchase, are critical. Last but not least, they are used by informed citizens in participating fully in a democratic society through voting (Kenney, 2007).
Information technology is a rapidly growing part of today's society. It affects everyone's life in many aspects. Every human endeavor is influenced by information technology and the increasing rate at which what it can perform includes. One area of human endeavor that information technology has greatly influenced is the practice of medicine, specifically veterinary medicine. Not only has veterinary medicine been influenced by information technology, it has also been enhanced by it. The degree to which the practice of veterinary medicine includes information technology is observable at the Animal Emergency Clinic of Central New York on Erie Blvd. in Syracuse, New York.
There are very many types of information systems. Classification of information systems follows the organizational levels in which they are used or installed for use. For instance, there are management information systems; some of which will be covered in this project report. Management information systems (MIS), helps businesses meet their business objectives. Almost all organizations and businesses today use management information systems; be it large, small, startup or an established multi-national. This is for the sole reason that information systems have evolved from just being a tool to gain competitive advantage for businesses, to a vital tool, a necessity in the digital age we live in. Management Information Systems help managers make better-informed decisions and communicate with their superiors, as well as with all the stakeholders in the businesses their organizations are involved in.
