At the beginning of Romeo and Juliet, before certain scenes, Juliet seems to be a normal girl of her age. As the play carries on there is a certain scene in which Juliet’s behavior does not really reflect her age, this scene is the second scene of act three. In this scene, Juliet behavior tells us that she is really obsessed with Romeo as he is with her.
After just getting married to Juliet, Romeo kills Tybalt after he kills Mercutio. Juliet gets really depressed after hearing the bad news. This part is where Juliet changes her way of thinking. “But I, a maid, die maiden-widowed. Come, cords; come, nurse. I’ll to my wedding bed: And death, not Romeo, take my maidenhead.” By this quote, we can see that Juliet does not longer think like a teenager
When Juliet finds out that Tybalt has been killed and Romeo is in exile, for killing Tybalt, Juliet feels both passionate about Romeo and disappointed in both Romeo and herself, which reveal her inner struggle. In Act 3, Juliet’s Nurse comes back with this news that Tybalt is dead and that Romeo is such an awful person for killing him. Juliet fights back at the Nurse, and herself, for speaking bad about Romeo. She claims, ““Shall I speak ill of him that is my husband? Ah, poor my lord, what tongue shall smooth thy name, When I, thy three hours' wife, have mangled it? But wherefore, villain, didst thou kill my cousin? That villain cousin would have killed my husband.” (3.2.99-101). This shows that Juliet is passionate about Romeo, because first of all, she says that she was wrong to say bad things about her husband.
During, Act 3 Scene 1 Romeo and Tybalt fight. This fight ends with Tybalt dead and Romeo banished from Verona. As, news spreads Juliet learns of both unfortunate consequences of the battle. At, first Juliet’s tears are for the death of her cousin, but slowly turn to tears for Romeo due to her examination of the situation and the fact that she couldn’t be with Romeo. The commitment Juliet shows for her Romeo is an influential part of the story as she goes to Friar Lawrence asking for advice on how they could be together which leads to an even great commitment of their love at the end of the
Many teenagers make bad decisions, and act in a way most adult would say is unintelligent. Romeo and Juliet was a story about two feuding families with the same wealth living in Verona. After a big fight Prince Escalus tells them that if there is another fight they will be killed. Later that night Romeo meets Juliet at her father’s party and they both fall in love, after the party Romeo talks with Juliet about getting married and she agrees to have the wedding the very next day. After the wedding the two families get into another fight. Due to the fight Mercutio and Tybalt gets killed. Romeo who was also fighting was sentenced to banishment even
In The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet’s sometimes irrational behavior can be explained by their teenage brains. Many irresponsible decisions and actions could have been prevented if they had mature brains. Their irresponsible behavior can be explained by these two reasons: they value the rewards more than they consider the risk, and their brains don't have as much experience in decision making as a mature one would.
Emotion is a wild card in life. It almost always influences people to make bad decisions in their life, and causes harm to not only the host, but to many other people around them. In the play Romeo and Juliet, the characters Romeo, Juliet, and Tybalt are all very emotional characters which conclusively lead to all of their deaths, as well as to the deaths of many other people around them. Because of these characters newly drawn emotion, they made decisions that would have been previously considered ludicrous and idiotic. Throughout the exceptional play of Romeo and Juliet, it is ultimately proven that emotion is the enemy when it comes to decision making.
In “The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet” the younger generation, Romeo, Juliet, and Paris, and the older generation, Nurse, Capulets, and Friar, both had similarities and differences which had caused the end. They had a similar opinion on things going on and different opinions ones others. In the tragedy, the main characters died which was influenced by the older generations because they have similar and different opinions which all led the younger ones to death.
Juliet is not unlike the typical young women constantly struggling to find happiness and acceptance from those who are closest to her. Young Juliet must confront the harsh reality that exists between her and those who profess to be her friends and family, which is they failed to support her, love her, and lift her up with she needed it most. In the timeless book, “Romeo & Juliet” William Shakespeare writes a moving story about the betrayal, disappointment, love, and eventual death of Romeo and Juliet. No reader can truly appreciate and understand the level of Juliet’s struggles without first understanding the roles the Lord Capulet, Friar Lawrence and Romeo, their betrayal and their role in her faithful decision.
In the play “Romeo & Juliet” shakespeare portrayed all aspects of love throughout different characters. Each character carries its own meaning of love which is what makes this play unique. Romeo,Nurse, and Tybalt all represent divergent love. The word Love can come in all sorts of ways which is why it is such a diverse word. Love is a powerful term that can be portrayed as deep affection, devotion, and even heartbreak.
Juliet’s love and loyalty towards Romeo, and her developing character do not only play an important role in motivating her in speaking the lines that she does, but also in motivating her actions. Despite all the current events that have occurred; events that have affected her state of mind, Juliet decides to remain true and faithful to Romeo.
The next transformation is Juliet's defiance of her parent's wishes for her to marry Paris. The context of this scene is crucially important, for a woman to defy a man, much less a father in the Elizabethan Age, is preposterous. Although Juliet is only fourteen her development into a woman is beginning as her submissive nature leaves her. In her conversation with her mother, Juliet boldly makes puns to her undying love for Romeo. For example she says, ."..no man like he doth grieve my heart," (III.v. 175) in reference to Romeo, however her mother believes that Romeo makes her sad for murdering Tybalt. Even in the face of her monstrous and powerful father she holds fast to her heart's desire. Again, this time using Capulet for the vehicle, Juliet's death is foreshadowed, as Capulet tells Juliet to "Hang, beg, starve, die in the streets, For, by my soul, I'll ne'er acknowledge thee" (III.v.194-195).
Being in love makes chemical changes to your brain... But do these changes result in you doing stupid stuff? Romeo & Juliet, by William Shakespeare, is a story of two star-crossed lovers. It seems like everything is trying to stop the couple from being together, which results in their tragic demise. Many people are unsure of whether or not we should hold Romeo and Juliet responsible for their behavior.
Juliet is the daughter of Lord and Lady Capulet. When the play begins, we learn from the nurse that Juliet is soon turning fourteen (“Even or odd, of all the days in the year come Lammas-Eve at night shall she be fourteen”). In Juliet's first meeting with her mother and the nurse, she seems to be an obedient and responsible child. She comes immediately when they call her and answers always respectfully to her mother: "Madam, I am here, / What is your will?" (“Act 1, Scene 3). She is also clever as when her mother asks her what she thinks about marriage, she gives an ambiguous answer by saying what her mother wanted to hear really: “it is an honour I dream not of” (“Act 1, Scene 3). We learn that she is
Juliet's attitude towards love and marriage changes significantly throughout the play, at first she never even thought about marriage, but then falls deeply in love with Romeo, as a result Juliet decides she can’t live without Romeo and kill’s herself.
After Romeo killed Tybalt and got banished from Verona and had to go to Mantua. Juliet then started to reconsider her love for Romeo. She was most likely thinking of him as a cold-hearted killer at the moment but was not thinking of the circumstances that Romeo was under and what angered him so much. She is forced into a marriage with Paris. Then her sadness toward her cousin's death and her anger and disgust towards Romeo. Tybalt played a big part in the theme cause he affected big parts of the
