After listening to the panel of professors speak at the SCAD Keynote Event, "Explaining the Trump Phenomenon: Interdisciplinary Perspectives", I learned a variety of perspectives on Donald Trump’s presidential campaign. These perspectives were on different topics, including how he gained his supporters, his economic policies and other policies, what could happen if he becomes president, and much more. First, Trump’s popularity was definitely a surprise to a lot of people. Many of the panelists believe that he gained his supporters by shining light on some of our nation and government’s hidden problems. So he ultimately used fear to gain voters. One professor showed a poll showing that an overwhelming majority of people voting for Trump
In response to the widely unexpected and controversial election of Donald Trump the University of Maryland’s Government and Politics department hosted a panel to help staff and students understand how this happened. Additionally the panel hosts each spoke of what will happen to our government in terms of foreign and domestic policy. Each panel host had a different perspective on the matter and it made to be a very interesting discussion filled with a diverse set of opinions on how Donald Trump got elected and what it all means going forward. The speakers for the event were Irwin Morris, David Karol, Antoine Banks, Liliana Mason, Stella Rouse, Vadimir Tismaneanu, and Karol Soltan. Though there were many speakers at the event each person had a brief time to speak on the matter at hand and present their own analysis on the election.
With the impending election looming closer and closer, the approach of the presidential throne seems to elicit a plethora of opinions on who is the most viable candidate. However, the candidate that has caused controversy at every angle possible is none other than Donald Trump. Famous for his extreme affluence and most notably his TV drama, The Apprentice, President-elect Donald Trump has integrated his unctuous persona into his campaign. The San Diego Union Tribune’s article on Donald Trump, “…Great Power and Greater Irresponsibility”, introduces us with the possibility that Donald Trump is not the “Make America Great American” man he claims to be, and in fact he is the exact opposite. While for some Americans, his aversion to political correctness is admirable and induces a strong support; many are adverse to his social conduct and view his idiosyncrasies polar to the fabric of the Constitution. The article brings forth a target audience of both non-supporters and supporters alike in grave attempt to eradicate this supposed allure of Trump.

November 8, 2016. As the clock ticked from day to dust, the American population sat down to the conclusion of the forty fifth presidential election. Within moments, the fate of the nation was broadcasted into the homes and hearts of millions. For the some, the results of the election bought upon a sense of joy and excitement. However, for the other half of America’s citizens, hearing the call for Trump to presidency emitted feelings of sadness, disappointment, and above all else, confusion. How did a multi-billionaire businessman defeat a former First Lady of the United States and Secretary of State to become the president on the United States? In fact, how did a man of such little constitutional knowledge obtain the amount of political attention
Everybody says that Donald Trump keeps ridiculizing himself for the whole nation to see and has a tendency to speak without thinking. As a matter of fact, we all thought this was just a publicity hoax going on and we'd move on after a while. As months go by and while many still mock him in the news, there's no denying he's ascending in the polls a dominating the Republican field. I believe Trump will win, despite the absurdity of the conception. I will demonstrate my thesis with three ideas in this essay, starting off with his impact on the US economy, continuing with his demands and finishing with his image in the media.
Two-hundred and forty-one years have passed since the birth of what many refer to as, the land of the free. Forty-five presidents have been elected, through what many acknowledge as the ideal process of democracy. Within all this, it has now been eighty-two days since President Donald J. Trump’s father was a wealthy business man in the field of real-state, spending his time building supervising middle income apartments throughout New York City. At the age of thirteen, Trumps father sent him to the local military school in order to teach him discipline and top marks. He demonstrated the ability to be a bright student, star athlete and graduated in the year of 1964. He went on to attend the University of Fordham, later transferring to Wharton School of Finance to graduate in the year of 1968. After leaving collage, Trump had to decide how he would pursue his career. He had the opportunity to work for his father’s busyness; however, he had larger dreams, he was going to build his own empire just like his father (Donald Trump Biography) . With a small loan of one million dollars from his father, Trump moved to Manhattan in 1971 “My whole life really has been a 'no ' and I fought through it, it has not been easy for me, it has not been easy for me. And you know I started off in Brooklyn, my father gave me a small loan of a million dollars” (Jeremy Diamond. 2015.). Many people criticize him for this commit because one million dollars is not “small”, one million dollars today was about 6.8 million dollars in 1971. When first moving to Manhattan in 1971, Trump spent his
Regardless of a person’s political affiliations, one thing everyone can agree on is the success of the Republican candidate for president, Donald J. Trump. To a casual observer of Trump’s campaign, it may have looked like the entire process was chaotic and lacked unity; however, it was far from that. Donald Trump realized early on that he was not a politician and instead of lamenting on that fact, he turned it into a selling point. Trump used prior fame, unreasonable policies and misdirection to gain the vote of the largest voting demographic, the white Midwest working class.
Since Mr. Trump started his campaign to become the next president, most people took him as a complete joke. Many people did not think that he would make it far enough. Although, many people thought that it was a great idea to have such a high profile multi-millionaire run for president. They believed that he would really “make America great again”. Others, like myself were astonished at the joke and mockery this man was making out of everyday people. Most of us began to feel fear for the future. Not only were we scared for the future but we were scared of the unknown.
Every presidential election is thoroughly thought about and voted for nationally, but the most recent election was one that will be remembered by many that may not even be interested in politics. While the two most popular candidates, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, were a shock, they were both held up to two different expectations. Donald Trump stated, “It’s always good to be underestimated.” This describes how he was thought about by many Americans throughout his campaign and how he knew that he was looked upon. Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, both former candidates for the position of President, differed in their early life, educational background, and their views on issues.
There is a characteristic of a Trump presidency that is a near constant when discussing the candidate: he can’t be bought. Or, if elected, Donald Trump would solve the most pervasive problem in American politics: oligarchy. Of course, so would a king.
With the rise of Donald Trump in the United States and of European far right wing parties (some with fascist tendencies) we are seeing a new rise of conservatism in the western world in the last years. Why has this happened so fast? Is a natural tendency that follows too liberal and progressive governments?
In modern campaign races, candidates must find new and unique ways to connect with United States citizens. An individual that stood out greatly against the grain was Donald John Trump. Other factors such as personality traits and social media contribute additionally to how well Trump campaigned. Trump contain some traits such as an appeal to voters through his rhetoric, an association with the Republican party, and utilization of social media. Trump’s effective usage of these two methods allowed him to become the Republican Nominee.
For a political party that wants to unite our country, there sure is a lot of divisive talk at the 2016 DNC. But exactly who were these speakers talking so negative about Donald Trump? Well, they were Democrat Politicians, no surprise there. They were union leaders whose lobbyists steer Democrat Politicians to serve their will over all of ours. They were people getting free-stuff from the government, who'd like that windfall to continue their way. They were presidents of non-profits, every social cause known to mankind receiving government assistance. They were so-called minority groups claiming victimhood - demanding a greater voice, even when they were represented by politicians in some of the highest government offices there speaking for them.
