In the Elizabethan era witches were generally blamed for most misfortunes. Whether it be epidemics of diseases or traitorous storms. In addition witches were also considered to be evil and creepy. In Macbeth they kill the sailor in order to get back at the sailor’s wife for not sharing her chestnuts. The first witch says “A sailor’s wife had chestnuts in her lap, And mounch’d and mounch’d and mouch’d. “Give me” quoth I: “Aroint thee witch!” the rump-fed ronyon cries.” (1.3.4) The witches reaction to the sailor’s wife not sharing her chestnuts is a bit extensive but because they were seen as supernatural and supposively can control the wind they were able to take it above and beyond and trapped the sailor at sea until he ran out of rations and died. Storms and wind were often thought to be attached to witches during the Elizabethan era.

William Shakespeare shapes such a profound character in his play, The Tragedy of Macbeth. Some argue whether or not Macbeth is a hero or villain. In all reality, Macbeth is truly both a loathsome and heroic character. Allowing us to see his flaws, we are able to examine Macbeth and identify him as a tragic hero. Throughout this play, Macbeth transitions from a well-respected character to one who becomes hated by most if not all.
At the beginnig of the play Macbeth is shown as respected general, a devoted husband and a loyal subject to the king Duncan .The 3 witches make three prophecies, in act 1, scene 3 , the first 2 prophecies is rewarding Macbeth and the last one about Banquo, The first prophecy brings out his ambitous nature, but makes him struggles with killing his cousin king Duncan. “Macbeth” a tragedy written by William Shakespeare, portrays, how the main character Macbeth, transforms from a war hero, to a murdering villain. If chance may have me king, why chance may crown me with out my stir".
The story Enter Three Witches is not a quality piece of literature because a remake of Shakespeare will never be as good as Shakespeare. For starters the story almost completely changes the story line of the real Macbeth,It’s hard to keep focus on the plot when the narrator keeps changing, and rewriting Shakespeare takes everything away from what Shakespeare really is. The original story Macbeth, and Enter Three Witches are completely different. By the author adding in these main characters to the story it makes it seem like the original story of Macbeth never really happened. Very few of the characters in Enter Three Witches are even mentioned in the original story.
The three witches in the tragedy Macbeth are introduced right at the beginning of the play. The scene opens with the witches chanting three prophesies: Macbeth will be Thane of Cawdor, Thane of Glamis and King. These prophesies introduce Macbeth to his plan of defeat and to over power. Macbeth will eventually follow through in killing king Duncan. Some people believe that the witches had the ability to reverse the order of things. This brings into the play idea of fate and the role with which it has in the play. One can only wonder if Macbeth ever had a chance of doing what was right after he met with the witches. It is however, more realistic to believe that Macbeth was responsible for his own actions throughout the play and in the end,
In the play Macbeth he is told his fate by three witches. His life decisions and choices are being persuaded by prophecies three witches came to him with. His life is changed because of these “Weird Sisters” has told him what he has become and what he is going to need to do. The witches have great powers of course there right, he can become great things, his ambition took the best of him.
Shakespeare’s tragic play, The Tragedy of Macbeth, has many thrills and chills which adds to the plot. There’s scenes that really make you think and ponder what Shakespeare could have meant. One of the most controversial part of the play is who exactly held the most power in the play. The answer to that is the three witches. They held this so called power through magic and words, which held a very potent influence on Macbeth and other people.
I think that the three witches are most intriguing. They are sinister and grotesque, scary as witches should be, but at the same time they talk about the deception that exist in the world.
