It was a loud and bright fourth of July, and my mom, dad, my brother and I were all celebrating at my grandparent’s house on my father's side. Everything was going well and we were all sitting on the back deck shooting off firecrackers and other small fireworks. Then, my grandpa brought out a few huge cakes which are the fireworks that are really big and blow up in the air. My brother and I lit off a few of those, my dad wanted to go light the biggest one because he loves fireworks! For most of the big ones we had to tell him to close his eyes because he gets seizures when he drinks and sees flashing lights. He wasn't talking and he couldn't breathe. His eyes been rolled into the back of his head. I was screaming and crying for someone to call an ambulance. My grandparent’s neighbors saw everything that happened and jumped over the metal chain fence to run to my dad's side. He was trying to talk to my dad and get him to calm down enough to try and concentrate on his breathing while I called an ambulance. I was crying and the operator didn't understand what I was saying. A few tall men in uniform came up to me and I led them to the backyard where my dad was still lying on the ground. By the time they got there to see my dad he was breathing and they had gotten him to sit up. They helped him up to the deck and sat him in a chair. They took flashlights and looked into his eyes. I'm not sure why or what they were looking for . Then they asked him questions like his name, the date, the current president, and where he was. He knew his name and where he was but didn't know who the president was or what the date was, which really scared me because it was the fourth of July and fireworks were going off all around us in the distance. They asked him if he needed an ambulance, but he said, he didn't think he needed one. So, my grandpa drove him and my mom to the hospital so he could get checked out. We stayed at my grandparent’s house for the night. A few days later my dad got out of the hospital and the doctors said he probably shouldn't celebrate the Fourth of July anymore because of the flashing lights and being around beer or alcohol. The Fourth of July was my dad's favorite holiday. We always spent hundreds of dollars on fireworks and went to my grandpas firework stand in the very beginning of July or the very end of June to help sell fireworks with him. The fourth of July was always a big holiday for us, but not so much anymore since my dad can't really celebrate with
