It was a loud and bright fourth of July, and my mom, dad, my brother and I were all celebrating at my grandparent’s house on my father's side. Everything was going well and we were all sitting on the back deck shooting off firecrackers and other small fireworks. Then, my grandpa brought out a few huge cakes which are the fireworks that are really big and blow up in the air. My brother and I lit off a few of those, my dad wanted to go light the biggest one because he loves fireworks! For most of the big ones we had to tell him to close his eyes because he gets seizures when he drinks and sees flashing lights. He walked down the stairs of the deck to the yard to set the cake down and light the fuse. It was pitch black outside and all we could …show more content…
He wasn't talking and he couldn't breathe. His eyes been rolled into the back of his head. I was screaming and crying for someone to call an ambulance. My grandparent’s neighbors saw everything that happened and jumped over the metal chain fence to run to my dad's side. He was trying to talk to my dad and get him to calm down enough to try and concentrate on his breathing while I called an ambulance. I was crying and the operator didn't understand what I was saying. All I could do was cry and say, “My dad needs help! Please my dad needs …show more content…
A few tall men in uniform came up to me and I led them to the backyard where my dad was still lying on the ground. By the time they got there to see my dad he was breathing and they had gotten him to sit up. They helped him up to the deck and sat him in a chair. They took flashlights and looked into his eyes. I'm not sure why or what they were looking for . Then they asked him questions like his name, the date, the current president, and where he was. He knew his name and where he was but didn't know who the president was or what the date was, which really scared me because it was the fourth of July and fireworks were going off all around us in the distance. They asked him if he needed an ambulance, but he said, he didn't think he needed one. So, my grandpa drove him and my mom to the hospital so he could get checked out. We stayed at my grandparent’s house for the night. A few days later my dad got out of the hospital and the doctors said he probably shouldn't celebrate the Fourth of July anymore because of the flashing lights and being around beer or alcohol. The Fourth of July was my dad's favorite holiday. We always spent hundreds of dollars on fireworks and went to my grandpas firework stand in the very beginning of July or the very end of June to help sell fireworks with him. The fourth of July was always a big holiday for us, but not so much anymore since my dad can't really celebrate with
When the Fourth of July comes around some families celebrate when America got freedom. Some families will get together, they have a tradition of going to watch the fireworks during the night of the Fourth of July.People celebrate this certain day because it is the day the Declaration of Independence was signed. That is when the Americans were free and had their own rights. At the sametime is it the best time to be making memories with family.
It’s a struggle to get out of bed sometimes, I often just sit there struggling to comprehend the sequence of events which have taken place over the past year. I mean, I’m used to this now, its normal to me, but the fact that this has happened and that I am now ‘disabled’ as people would put it is hard to get my head around. And every time I look down I’m reminded of the pain and the struggle I faced, it’s a physical scar which links me to my grueling past, a physical and emotional journey.
July 4, 1776 marked a very special day. A day that holds the future for many. The day that reminds us year after year up to this day and beyond that we shall never forget. How special you may ask? July 4th is known as the 4th of July. We celebrate this day with fireworks, parades, cookouts, camping, vacations, and more. What are we celebrating? We are celebrating the day America became free. The day our founding fathers adopted the Declaration of Independence. The day that 13 colonies claimed their independence from Great Britain.
Basically, my fourth of July consists of waking up very early and doing the 4th of July 5k run, after that I go home and rest for a bit until my mom will wake me up so I can get ready to go to the parade early, because we ride our bikes there and back as a family. Once we arrive home, we have an amazing lunch of brats and burgers, and usually swim in our pool or just chill until it comes time to light off fireworks where I go to the beach to watch the fireworks and hang out. Usually after the beach I have friends over or go to one of my friends houses. 4th Of July is one of my favorite holidays to celebrate for those
Thirteen years ago at our old house on Heritage Blvd on the fourth of July my mother got sick, so instead of our usual Fourth of July tradition of popping fireworks at our grandmothers house, we were stuck at home. The plan was to wait until our mother felt better to go pop fireworks, so like good children, my brothers and I nodded our heads and went off to play, and that lasted for about maybe twenty minutes before we got bored. My brothers Colten and Tyler had the bright idea to steal the fireworks and walk around the neighborhood, and I being about six at the time thought this was the best idea in the world. I looked up to my brothers, and they were older and smarter than me so I did not see the harm in going for a walk around the block and popping off some firecrackers. We did not think anyone would care, and we were completely wrong.
If you were to see me walking down the street you would never guess that I was in foster care. I dress and act like your everyday 17 year old, and in a way I am. Except I was placed in foster care when I was 15 years old. Scratch that I put myself in foster care when I was 15 years old. I bet you’re asking “why”? “Why would you do such a thing”? Well my mother was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia also known as disorganized schizophrenia. Just in case you don't know disorganized schizophrenia is characterized by incoherent and illogical thoughts and behaviors, so when you are 15 that's not a good situation to be in. My mother couldn't keep a job therefore she could not support us.
One year ago on the fourth of July at my family's farm, ¨wha whoo ¨we said in excitement as we jumped in piles of hay.We would mess up a pile, then put it back together we would run, run ,run ,then jump as high as we can we would make team and whatever team won they would get a special hat to wear and we would fight about who won and who get the hat also. They would fight about cheating , I would tell them not to fight because it's the Fourth of July after that would laugh so hard and they would laugh at them self too . they would be so confused at me and look at me sideways.. My brother and all the younger kids would play in the grass with toys than one of the
4th of July is a time for good food, fireworks and patriotism. The 4th of July celebrates Independence Day. It’s a federal holiday commemorating the adoption of the declaration of independence. It’s a time for carnivals, fairs, and barbeques. What’s great about the fourth of July is that it gets everyone outside, and it also brings people together for a good time. Everyone has different traditions for the 4th, which is what makes it great. Every 4th I do the same thing because its almost like a tradition in my family. Every year my family comes over, and my dad cooks really good BBQ. After we eat really good food we light off many firework in our yard. It’s a tradition that sounds simple and basic. But it’s a tradition nonetheless, and its
The night of December 9, 2011 was easily one of the worst of my life. It all started before I woke. At around 2:30 in the morning, my grandfather (Pepaw), who resided in Keyser, West Virginia, had fallen very ill. My step grandmother called my father to let him know that his father needed emergency surgery and asked him to travel to Keyser Hospital as soon as possible. After the first surgery was completed the doctors at the the Hospital determined that he needed an additional emergency surgery that they were not equipped to preform. At 5:30 A.M. he was Medevaced to Morgantown, West Virginia for the next surgery. After he arrived, the Morgantown Physicians assessed his vitals, and in consultation with the Keysers doctors, they determined that Pepaw was not strong enough to undergo the second
Growing up I had the best time celebrating the 4th of July with my Dad and Papa mostly because of one thing. Fireworks! Yes, this is the holiday to commemorate the adoption of the Declaration of Independence but it is also to celebrate our freedom to blow stuff up! Right? Or maybe that’s just me.
Giant flags of red, white, and blue, my children shouting, my friends and family, the perfect weather, a backyard barbeque, and the beauty of the fireworks lights up the night sky. No other holiday makes me happier than July 4th.
I cannot believe how loud the fireworks were sounding on the 4th of July. This was the best part of the year other than Christmas and your Birthday, but 4th July is different it's a time to hang out party or have some plain old fun. Some people buy thousands of dollars worth of fireworks why others just spend 20 dollars for some fireworks. The 4th of July is really supposed to be celebrated for the declaration of independence. Me and my family went to go get firework and on the car ride their all you heard was the fireworks going Boom!Boom! When we got there the was so much to choose from. Their was tiny fireworks to ginormous fireworks. When we got done we spended around a hundred dollars. When we got back to the house we ate dinner and went
4th of July is one of my favorites and personally one of the funniest holidays in my opinion. I like how it’s the only day that you are able to light up fireworks and the cops can’t stop you because the whole United States is lighting up fireworks. Love how we all get together as a family to buy fireworks and grill food and eat together and celebrate an Americans national Holiday.
The word ‘weird’ to me is how people talk about one another or certain objects as strange or not fitting the mold that they think or believe to normal. I chose this word because I believe being known as being weird is a somewhat mean way to say that someone is different from someone else. There are times where I think the word ‘weird’ is a completely accurate description of me, but then there are times it's not even close to describing me. The people who call me ‘weird’ use it as an insult and try to put me down. These people forget that being ‘normal’ is not exactly a good thing either.
This is when a random bystander jumped in the lake from a dock and pulled my uncle out of the lake. He immediately called 911 and started cpr. My uncle was not responsive. Once he got in the ambulance he was on and off. He was not in good shape. I remember sitting at home and my mom getting a call from my grandpa saying he was in the hospital and was not doing very good. My mom left with my dad to go see him at the hospital, but she wouldn't let me or my siblings go. She didn't want us seeing him like that. My uncle stayed in the hospital for a long time.He was on life support and my grandpa had to decided if we wanted to take him off it or keep him on. The doctors said that he was completely brain dead and would most likely never be responsive again. Everyone was devastated, but we weren't about to let him go. We kept him on life support until he was stable enough to be off it. He was in the hospital for a very long time but finally one day he was allowed to come
