In the story, “Emerging from Darkness”, Michelle and her little brother, William, go on an adventure to explore a cave, when all of a sudden they get lost. In the end, they see the bats flying somewhere and remember from their Mom’s book that the bats are flying out of the cave, so they follow the bats to safety. Based on the information in the story, Michelle’s caring and responsible actions helped her and her brother escape the cave. For example, in paragraph 46, Michelle remembers from their Mom’s book, that the bats are leaving the cave. In the story, it states, ”I remember from Mom’s book.”
