If individuals or a society are to improve, they should seek power through their responses to hardship and struggles according to Nietzsche. If an individual or society responds well to the hardships and suffering it encounters, that individual or society will continue to improve and evolve. Today, the media reports that the Islamic State in Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) is struggling to gain power for their people through the reacquisition of land and reunification of Islamic people. ISIS has threatened attacks on the western world, should they attempt to intervene in this struggle (Ivison, 2014). The western world views this as a threat to its power and is poised to address this threat through military intervention. How each society responds …show more content…
They do all of this in the name of Allah - their god- and to gain power, however their objectives and ultimate goal is unclear to the western world. In a recent SKYPE interview conducted by Vice.com, Canadian ISIS member Farah Mohamed Shirdon gave mixed messages about the intent of ISIS. At one point, Shirdon claimed that the group wished to be left alone, stating that he didn’t want to fight, nor did his group. He further stated that the group wishes to enable Muslims to live under their own laws and authority and that they view western interference as a threat (Shirdon, 2014). However, Shirdon went on to state that he hoped to be made a martyr by dying in conflict for Allah and that ISIS would not stop until their flag was flying over the White House (Shirdon, 2014). Shirdon also made direct threats against western civilization, stating they were coming for “us” and that “a lot of brothers are mobilizing there right now in the West…mobilizing for a brilliant attack…” on the West (Shirdon, 2014). This could lead one to believe that the group is actually looking at expanding its power beyond its stated limitations. What is unclear from media reports is whether ISIS is seeking to gain more power to allow its individual’s greater opportunities to improve their individual circumstances, or whether the group is seeking world domination for their group and Allah.
Nietzsche’s Theory
Nietzsche asserts that human actions should be driven by an aspiration to
As suggested by the name of the group, they claim to be the followers of the Islamic religion. Their primary purpose is to conquer all the nations and to enforce conservative Islamic laws and traditions. ISIS is known to use advanced weaponry, ammunitions, and barbaric ways of slaughtering their enemies. The group wants the world to only follow Islam, and they strictly promote the teachings of Quran. They have been known to have cause many attacks like the recent terrorist attacks in Paris. It is the extreme devotion of the military members towards Islam that is causing them to enforce their beliefs on others. The group is not promoting their religion, they are enforcing
Every day, as I turn on the news, I sigh in despair. The world is a total mess; innocent civilians being bombed, slavery, and poverty still evident in many countries. Why the world is so corrupt- in 2014, is beyond me. I try to avoid headlines about the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) but the ever-growing presence of their existence has amplified so much that it cannot be ignored. ISIS is a militant terrorist group that has struck fear into the hearts of many Iraqi’s. Through the use of violence, mass rape, and propaganda, ISIS has conquered much of Iraq and Syria. The objectives of ISIS are to establish an Islamic caliphate in the Middle East. I can’t get it through my head why people would do this, especially if it would backfire on them in the long run. By making their acts of terror known to the world, they only provoke international awareness. They absolutely will not last without end in the hands of the U.S army, whom they have mocked and threatened in the past.
ISIS is a Sunni militant group seeking to create its own state, governed by their interpretation of the Laws of the Quran, and to destroy all other branches of Islam as well as convert or destroy all non-Muslims.
In an article by Saleh (2014), the Daesh hate other denominations of Muslims, like the Shia to include the Christian religion. There destruction of of Shia Shrines and Christian churches again points back to Wahhabism and rooted in Salafist. The Daesh want to strip away relationship with any nation in order to create their own. In an article by Sprusansky (2014), the Daesh created their own Islamic state, naming Baghdadi as the caliph. World domination is the goal after a solid foothold in the Middle East and North Africa. The resurrection of the Daesh 7th century ideology is the motivation to kill, destroy, and gain territory (para. 6). The Daesh objective is to take control now and obtaining that goal will result in brutality beyond the comprehension of many to eliminate anyone in their
Isis is a terrorist organization made up of Shi’ite Muslims yearning to create an independent Islamic state in the Middle East. These terrorists go to any extent of violence in hopes of connecting the holy lands throughout Middle Eastern countries. Isis members are fighting for religious purposes hoping to secure land where the Muslim religion would dominate. Isis brings danger throughout the world with its political history, the military tactics it employs, and its attraction to foreign members.
ISIL’s goal is to overthrow the current governments and create their own universal caliphate. To top it off, ISIL (for example) distorts the Quran and the teachings to support their moral justification on the violence they create in their path. The United States and its allies attacked ISIL at their strong
It aims to replace existing, man-made borders, to overcome what it sees as the Shiite "crescent" that has emerged across the Middle East, to take its war Islam's war to Europe and America, and ultimately to lead Muslims toward an apocalyptic battle against the "disbelievers."Its propaganda relies on a very distinct interpretation of the Quran and other religious texts to promote these goals. In my opinion Isis is a bunch of cowards. They use facebook to hack accounts and recruit people. Isis has started a war they know they cannot win with power, so instead of power they use their influence and America's open borders to attack from the inside. In an interview with Sue Fisher I asked her opinion on Isis she responded with “They are murderers who do it in the name of religion.” I agreed, and asked her if she thinks they will succeed with their plans. Sue responded with “No they will not.” Additionally I asked if they’re worse than Al-Qaeda and she responded” Al-Qaeda and Isis are equally horrifying in what they have done.” The last question I asked is if Donald Trump was right with the bombing of Syria. Sue responded with “Donald Trump's decision was the right
The goal of ISIS is to make a unified Muslim country to enforce the beliefs and ISIS believes that making a Muslim territory or country it will help them in the apocalypse(Gladu). The extremist group ISIS split off from al-Qaida and then claimed they are caliphate(a Muslim community
The objectives of the group are to terrorize the U.S. so that it retreats from the world stage and this is a way of achieving its goals. Another objective is to use long wars to bleed the US financially while fueling the anti-American sentiment. They are also committed to defending the rights of Muslims and claim that they wish to dominate the globe through violent Islamic caliphate (Habeck,
Successful nations allow conflict to arise within and outside of the nation. War is the offspring of such political intercourse. The intention to gain power and control serve as enablers for national and international wars. Attaining power and control expand potential competition from a regional to a global level. The United States have involved itself in such terrorists attacks due to the desire to possess such resources, power and control. The Islamic State of Iraq also commonly known as ‘ISIS’, Salafi jihadist militant group that follows an Islamic fundamentalist is the offspring of such desire from the United States and the Western Hemisphere. America’s interest and influence for oil in the middle east gave birth to ISIS. The United States and the Western Hemisphere desire for power and control enable terrorism.
And yet it’s true that ISIS is not exactly what we’ve become accustomed to seeing in the Middle East of late. “This is not a classic insurgency,” says Itani, “or a non-state actor. Rather, it’s a state-building organization.” ISIS’s effort right now is to secure borders and lines of communication. Comparing ISIS’s project with al Qaeda’s, Itani notes that bin Laden’s logic was to draw the United States into conflict with the Muslim world in the hope of making the people so disgusted with their regimes that al Qaeda could take over. ISIS is different: It aims to take territory, hold it, and build a state. That is, at a moment when much of the rest of the Middle East is moving toward chaos, the Islamic State is consolidating, and beginning to
The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, or ISIS, is a militant group whose ultimate goal is to establish an Islamic State to govern and control much of the Islamic Middle East. This goal is not necessarily sinister in its general meaning. However, the means of going about establishing this Islamic State should be the cause of concern to the entire world.
2. BACKGROUND / NATIONAL INTERESTS: The group known as ISIS today is not new. This group, or factions of the group, has been in the Middle East since the early 1990s. Its lineage is traced back to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, then eventually it morphed into al-Qaeda Iraq, then transitioned into ISIS. As Bobby Ghosh mentions in his article for The Atlantic, “The group is now able and willing to seize and control territory, not simply send suicide bombers to their death.” ISIS has evolved into a global threat based on its ability to gain and seize territory while inflicting terror on surrounding nations in the Middle East and
ISIS forces seized towns, kidnapped young men, and forced them to learn radical Islamic teaching” (opposing viewpoints), the spread and brainwash that this group make to people has become in a religious manipulation of what the Coran says; is very common that some people get to believe in what this groups show as relate of what the Coran talks about, even in some of the cases “joining this group is shown as loyalty or pledge to their faith” (education-and-interreligious-engagement);the ideology of this group is Tawhid that means oneness or unify of god, this is divide in other tree parts or categories: Twhidal-rububiyah that is oneness of lordship, Tawhid al-uluhiyah that is oneness of God ship and Tawhid al-asma’ wal-sifal oneness of the names and attributes of God. “ they enforce their vision of Islam in belief and manifest action, and they endorse waging jihad against idolatrous regimes that do not govern according to god’s rules” the message from ISIS to the Muslim community is basically the same as Osama Binladen, split the world in tow camps in which one is obviously Islamic and “faith” and the other is not believe and hypocrisy; what the group is trying to do is change the real
The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has made headlines throughout the globe this past year with their atrocities against religious minorities and determination to create an Islamic caliphate. They have expressed, throughout, that their primary objective is to establish a Salafist government over the Levant region of Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Jordan, Cyprus, and Southern Turkey(……). The group controls hundreds of square miles, where they disregard all international borders and has a amassed land from Syria’s Mediterranean coast all the way to the south of Baghdad. Their group leader is Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi who is recognized as caliph and the leader of Muslims everywhere. With their unpredictable authority that has included beheadings, massacres of prisoners, and attempts to exterminate Christian communities have spurred international outrage where Anti-coalition has begun with up to 62 nations joining the fight to stop this terror organization. Canada has joined the coalition, and it should indeed, because ISIS has declared war against Canada, war is the only practical way to stop ISIS from amassing new territories, and ISIS is committing war crimes against innocent civilians.
