The Issue Of Gun Control

Gun control has been a big topic for the past decade in the united states. These debates will rise and fall time in and time out after something horrific happens in the state. Anti-Gun supporters do not realize that it is extremely difficult to regulate something in the states that is a big portion of our economy.Would stricter gun laws change anything? So far statistically It has been proven otherwise one must consider how a citizen would defend themselves when they are faced with terror. How will they defend themselves if there are restrictions on guns? It seems that some states that have stricter gun laws are where the most shootings and also where more terrorists attack take place. It seems that gun control is only pushed when shootings gradually get worse and worse. But why are these anti gun groups not speaking up when police brutality happens or when a racial hate crime occurs? Anti-Gun groups do not look at the bigger picture and try to understand that it is more than guns. Gun control almost plays Zero role in murders

Since the beginning of time humans have employed the use of weapons. These have been used as a tool to provide food, security and sometimes to cause harm or as a final resolution to conflict. The loss of life that sometimes involves the use of guns has prompted the Authorities to enact certain regulations that are generally known as gun control laws.

The United States is known for many things. We’re number one in Moon landings, number one in diversity, and number one in guns per 100 people. As a left-wing Democrat, I find this very concerning and dangerous, but many others feel differently about the topic of gun control, and more specifically, background checks. Most opposition to extensive background checks are Republicans, and this can be seen portrayed in traditional Republican values like safety, security, and family. Through the opposition of explicit restrictions to our Second Amendment right, gun control opposition enacts values like patriotism and nationalism with strong traditional American beliefs.

Gun control has been a hot topic in the media lately. The government seems to think that it would be a wonderful idea to take away our right to bear arms. May I remind you this is our right according to the second amendment? The second amendment reads, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Just to be clear on the meaning of the word infringe, it reads, “To actively break the terms of a law, agreement, etc.” With that in mind, why would any American think that it’s ok for our government to take away our right to bear arms? Not to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but is this not what Hitler did to the Jewish people, before launching his murderous campaign against them? Sure there would be some benefits to having gun control, I am not completely biased on the subject. But Newton said it best in his third law of motion which states, “for every action, there is an equal, and opposite reaction.”

In the United States today there are many different policy issues that are associated with individual’s different hobbies and interests, and lots of these policy issues have some legal components to them. For me a policy issue that comes to mind would be Gun Control, because I am a gun owner who is a supporter of the second amendment. With shootings and other gun related trouble happening all over our country those who create and maintain our gun laws have a big responsibility to take care of. The policy issue of gun control has both people who support the right to bear arms, while there are others who think all guns should be done away with, and this dispute should be something people care about in a legal context.

Sitting at dinner with my very outspoken Grandpa, my strong opinionated father, and my presumptuous mother, is often a time of stress for my sisters and I. When you put too many hardheaded people together there is bound to be a quarrel. “I don’t know why you think I don’t have the right to protect myself,” My Grandpa would ramble to no one in particular after hearing something in the background on the TV. Eying my sister, who clearly wanted to say respond but was kicked under the table by my mother, my mind began to wonder about the debate of gun control in our country. Being around my family who believe that there is no question to it, everyone should have the right to bear arm, I had never let my mind think of the opposing side of this until recently. I was able to come up with a few reasons why I personally believe that US citizens should maybe not have the right to bear arm, including the fear correlated with the gun itself, the state of mind of those carrying the weapon and how easy it is for a gun to fall into the wrong hands.

“Gun control? We need bullet control! I think every bullet should cost 5,000 dollars. Because if a bullet cost 5,000 dollars, we wouldn’t have any innocent bystanders”. The comedian, Chris Rock, once said this funny but very intellectual quote. What Chris Rock suggests may be very unrealistic but why don’t we pay a closer attention to the message that he is trying to get across to us. The Second Amendment gives states “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed” (Bill of Rights). This amendment is very broad and has caused a separation of people in America on what exactly our Founding Fathers meant when they were creating the Constitution. There are Americans that believe that even though we have the right to bear arms, there should be certain restrictions /safety precautions that should be enforced with it. The opposing Americans believe that any restrictions that may be added to guns are “unconstitutional” and obstructs the amendment. Many people take a side without having a full understanding on what exactly is happening on in the United States of America when it comes to guns.

Do guns really kill people or are they just being blamed for it? This question come in to the minds of people whenever there is a shooting involved. For instances, when a 22 year old man went into sandy hook elementary school carrying firearms and tragically killing 20 children and 6 adult staff members. Whenever people debate about gun control, it always causes people to pick a side, on whether to support it or not. There are people that are anti-gun that support gun control, they feel that the government should ban guns in order to lower crime rate and to prevent future tragedies from happing again. Then there are people like the National Rifle Association that strongly believe in the second amendment and they also believe

The gun control issue has become popular and significant decision recently in America, after the mass shooting in Orlando, caused forty-nine innocent people murdered. Many people have a question if guns are really a machine that help to protect themselves from emergency situation according to the Second Amendment, which states: "A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed", or if guns are the dangerous machine that people have been publicized recently as Gun Control, which have been established in order to keep people safe. The number of shootings and deaths caused by guns has risen in the past years. By requiring gun owners to register their guns the government is ensuring that the owners of these guns will use them with caution. From my point of view, I believe that government needs gun control regulation by restricting type of gun sold (assault weapon ban) and add stricter background checks before purchasing guns

Gun control is the restrictions or banning of firearms. Gun control refers to laws or policies that regulate the manufacture, sale, transfer, possession, modification, or use of firearms. In my opinion there will always be a debate about it. If I had to choose a side on this gun control debate, it would certainly be against gun control.

First I think Molly Ivins is wrong when she say get rid of guns. What she don’t realize there will still be violence in the united states of America gun are not the problem the people that own the gun is the problem. Secondly some people buy gun to fell safe just think about a woman that has three kids and she live on her on what should she go out and buy the protect her family and make sure that they are safe. Third people love gun because guns make people think twice about breaking into there house are bothering the person who own a gun When she say get a knife, Get a Dog, But get rid of guns. Fourth at the same time she should do more research because dog kill people and knife kill people to so I don’t get where she is try to go with that. I just think gun are not the biggest issues violence is the biggest issues because if you take gun always people will still find something to replace the gun.

The truth is, violent crimes in America are often very high, but in reality property crimes happen more. In the nine year olds case, the gun wasn’t properly put away, causing the tragic incident. Personally, I think if an individual has taken appropriate courses for owning a gun, have had a background check, and seem stable then it is fine for them to own a gun. Guns should be used for protection, hunting for food during the appropriate season, and used at a gun range where safe objects are the target. I have many friends who responsibly own guns and only use them when appropriate. However, if someone has purposefully committed a gun crime before, they shouldn’t be allowed a gun. This may seem unfair to some people but its only for America’s safety. Also, a person should be at least 21 to own a gun. If a person shooting a gun at a gun range is underage, they need to be accompanied by an adult with a license to carry.

Gun control is something that the country is strongly divided on. The some on the right wing wants so few restrictions they can go to Walmart and buy an AK-47. At the same time certain members on the left wing want to take away anything bigger than an airsoft gun. There is a fine line between the two, but that is where the country needs to be. Like a clown on a unicycle, edging across a tight rope, this country needs to find balance between the two. That being said, at this point the country needs more gun control. There is a shooting about once a week, like clockwork. Senseless deaths every year from accidental misfires. It is time for a change. There are some who believe gun control is a step back for the United States, but in reality it assists in saving lives, truly follows the second amendment, helps lower the crime rate and suicide rate.
