In this website, it discusses the debatable topic of gun control. In the article titled Gun Control, it states that the “The United States is the leader in per-capita gun deaths among industrial nations.” The main point of this article was to get the point across about the controversy that this has brought into the United States, not only does it quote influential leaders such as Patrick Henry who declared “The great principle is that every man be armed. Everyone who is able may have a gun.” But it also touches the opposing side of this debate quoting James Maddison “the advantage of being armed, which you possess over the people of almost every other nation.” The next few paragraphs touch the political aspect of the controversy in a way that it ruled in a court room through the peoples’ popular vote. This article refers to the second amendment guaranteeing the arms of each citizen, simultaneously ensured arms for the militia. Furthermore, gun-control opponents feel that the words “right of the people” in the Second Amendment hold the same meaning as they do in the First Amendment, where they describe an individual right (such as freedom of assembly).
