Immigration Immigration has been a controversial topic for decades. It began a long time ago when slaves were brought in from the atlantic as a response to the increasing demand for labor in the United States. There were no legislative restrictions on immigration until the 1800s. Immigration began to become more of an issue as more and more people began to enter the United States, and as more people were found to be living illegally, the problem of illegal immigration arose. There are many different types of immigration, this essay focuses on illegal immigration and undocumented immigrants who live in the United States without citizenship. There is no significant difference between the two, however they can be interpreted very differently. The issue of illegal immigration has become especially substantial in the 2016 United States presidential election. There are those who see good in it, and those who believe that illegal immigration does nothing but wound America. The topic has come up multiple times in debates between Secretary Clinton, and Donald Trump, who both seem to have opposing views on this particular problem that the U.S is facing.
