The Jesus Storybook Bible and NIV Bible In The Jesus Storybook Bible by Sally Lloyd-Jones, writes the beginning of Creation. At the beginning there was darkness and God made everything from darkness. In this story the author writes God said, “Hello light!” and uses these greeting in every part of creation that God does. The bible tells us that God said, “Let there be light”. Both literally parts do mean the same and Sally Lloyd- Jones does keep the ‘Hello’ statement throughout every portion just like how the bible keeps ‘Let there be..’ statements consecutively.
The animals arrive in The Jesus Storybook Bible separately just as in the NIV Bible. Genesis 1: 20, “And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.” Sally Lloyd-Jones writes that the birds and fish come in at separate times. I feel like this is a very important detail that sometimes gets mashed together. God first made living creatures for the sea and then creates the birds to fly across the vault of sea. Acknowledging that God took individual steps in making all the creatures of the earth reflects how God was assuring that each portion was made ‘good’. Genesis 1:24, “And God said, “ Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to their kinds.” Now seeing that God made animals to walk on the earth, The Jesus Storybook Bible does…
