The Journey of Education My educational journey has been marked by many incredible teachers and (equally incredible) experiences. I am very fortunate to have been a student to some of the greatest, however sadly unknown teachers. My educational journey has been accompanied by teachers from all ends of the educational spectrum. I have had serious, inspirational and unorthodox teachers and teaching styles. It is my intention to illustrate my educational journey to the reader. My early experiences as a student had little effect on shaping my life. I was too young and too apathetical to have any sincere interest in my education at that point. Mr. Eckle suggested that we should create a petition, have the other classes in the grade sign it and present it to the principal. We had little faith in his suggestion until we got a letter from the principal charging our class to design (with nutrition in mind) the lunches for the next week. We were ecstatic. Seemingly powerless kids had actually made a difference. Despite being inconsequential and trivial, we felt that we had made an important change in the world. The next years of my life, (as far as my quest was concerned), was composed of many great and influential teachers such as Mr. Ponte, my 10th grade history teacher. “Mr. P” taught with great passion and love for history such as the coliseum gladiator fights in ancient Rome. He had the ability to take a dry historical event and make it fascinating filled with learning and humor. I graduated high school in 1997 and started college about two years later. During the time period from 1997-1999 I worked in a corporate environment as an administrative assistant to the company president. I learned first hand through this experience the importance of higher education. I watched the ascension of young college graduates get promoted often. The observance of the benefits of a college education caused me to enroll in Los Angeles Pierce Community College. In community
