The Key to Having a Successful Exercise Program

In order to achieve your desired fitness goals, you must have a plan. Having a plan is most important because not only does it keep you on track with your training, but it also is a way to figure out what works best for your body and it is a way to get the desired look according to your personal desires. The best way to regulate a exercise program is to change it up every three to four weeks to keep your body guessing, but for now I am going to use my own personal two week plan as an example. After listing my plan, I will explain how this plan corresponds to Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs as well as the Progressive Overload training theory. The key to having a successful exercise program is that your program must correspond to the FITT principles of training. The F.I.T.T. Principle is one of the foundations of exercise, a set of guidelines that help you set up a workout routine to fit your goals and fitness level while helping you get the most out of your exercise program (Waehner). FITT stands for Frequency, Intensity, Time, and Type. My two we plan will be primarily based around strength training, along with different types of cardio at different styles and intensities not only to keep my body guessing but to also keep me interested in the program. My exercise program is a four-day split, this means that I will exercise four out of the seven days within each week.
