Firstly, it has been a decade since the adoption of last NDS (2008) which in its introduction provide guidance for defense development until 2015. So, at least NDS is two years outdated. In addition, NSS had dated just a couple months before NDS. Since last NSS and NDS Montenegro has adopted two SDR in 2010 and 2013. Furthermore, main reason for adoption of the last SDR (2013) were too high ambitions and unrealistic planning in previous SDR (2010). Secondly, fact that Montenegro on June 5, 2017 became a NATO member significantly change country position and defense sector priorities. Membership brings some vital benefit, but also a great level of responsibility and additional obligations. Despite all verified and timely confirmed threat …show more content…
In addition, the relatively young independence is in country’s favors as the Constitution includes the huge majority of the traditional as well as modern democracy values, and also the essential elements of strategy. While freedom, peace, and multiculturalism are traditionally and historically confirmed enduring national values, tolerance, respect for human right and freedoms, democracy and the rule of law are those defined by country’s orientation to the modern European society. Country’s transformation from almost nine decades of membership in different kingdoms, federations or union should respectfully bring above mentioned the European values. The NATO membership and the EU candidate status are signs of rightness in country’s determination to fully implement and respect these values. Finally, the AFoM moto “Humanity and Gallantry” are rather traditional, cultural, ethical ideals and historically confirmed values of Montenegrins, than just symbolic. Further strengthening and comprehensiveness internally and internationally, of the already established numerous security and defense cooperation organizations and initiatives require significant alignment and synchronization. “I believe that it must be the policy of the United States to support free peoples who are resisting attempted subjugation by armed minorities or by outside pressures.” This declaration, made by former President Harry S. Truman on March 12, 1947, is part of the Truman Doctrine, and was the basis for U.S. involvement in Western Europe throughout the Cold War. Although the North Atlantic Treaty, and the resulting North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), was established during the Cold War “to keep the Russians out, the Americans in, and the Germans down,” NATO has persisted since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1990. This essay will seek to examine the U.S. decision to create and participate in NATO. It will begin by providing a history of NATO and the U.S. decision to participate in NATO before considering how this decision is both an instance of continuity and change in U.S. foreign policy since former President George Washington’s Farewell Address. The essay will conclude by considering the legacy of this decision and its impact on U.S. foreign policy. While this essay will consider the period of time leading up to the formation of NATO and will briefly touch on the present day, greatest consideration will be paid to the time period immediately preceding and following the formation of NATO in 1949.

Past Setbacks; High politics surpass the economic gains. The thoughts and scarred lifestyle due to cold war with Soviet Union has faded impact on the “new” EU states. Old states fear the aggressive anti-Communist elites as they displayed a vast growth in an incredibly short phase.Though these States tend to be optimistic yet resist dictatorship and there is a fear of being swamped by the powerful West. CEE’s have a cold war vision against the United States while Western Europe has strong

Yugoslavia was a very successful country under the lead of Josip Broz Tito. Yugoslavia was made of 6 Republics and those were: Croatia, Montenegro ,Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro, Slovenia, Serbia, Macedonia and Kosovo together with Vojvodina which at that time were recognized as provinces. After the death of Tito Yugoslavia began to demolish. The collapse of Yugoslavia began in 1980, and it continued until the 27th of April 1992, which in history is known as the date when Yugoslavia totally collapsed. In my opinion, the reason that the disintegration of Yugoslavia happened was because of the decline in absolute sovereignty. In this paper, I am going to talk about the definition of sovereignty, different perspectives about the disintegration of Yugoslavia from some authors and the decline in absolute sovereignty which led to the disintegration of Yugoslavia.
NATO encourages Russia to resume co-operation on the broad range of issues foreseen in the Founding Act and to engage actively in the EAPC and the Partnership for Peace. The establishment of the European Union (EU) solidified a united political, economic, and defensive front creating a Supranational Organization (Lucas, 1999, no page). With the assistance of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the United States, the EU has developed a comprehensive security strategy responsible for leading the coalition’s objectives for mutual solidarity, global stabilization, and defense. To address security threats both regionally and globally set forth by the European Security Strategy (ESS), considerations were developed which encompass both cultural domains of geography and development.
