On Leadership Qualities- Leaders are always challenged, whether it is their way of thinking or their ability. No matter the circumstance, three leadership qualities that seem to prevail are integrity, job knowledge, and people-building skills. Personally, I have a set of values by which I live. I do not accept anything that may interfere with my values, because those values define me. I believe in loyalty, honesty, building others, open-mindedness, loving God, loving people, humbleness, self-control, and being accountable for my actions. My continuous practice of them preserves my authenticity (authenticity, orange book). In my own words integrity it doing what is right even when no one is watching. Being able to stay true to who you are …show more content…
I always try to make sure that I live up to what my values are, so when I am faced with something that may challenge my practices, I ask myself how it will affect me and what I believe, and does it hurt someone else. This helps me refrain from doing something I will regret. When it comes to job knowledge, I use all of my skills to get the job done, and if there is something that I do not know how to do, I ask for help. I consider my capacity to perform well in various situations to be adequate to the environment. In other words, my abilities to perform are great. I am able to work in teams or individually and most importantly I produce results. If I am asked to do something I do it, and I do it effectively. Furthermore, as I stated before, I have the inclination to ask for help when I do not know how to carry out a task. There is nothing wrong with this habit, and after reading Great by Choice, I would like to practice the empirical creativity principle (empirical creativity). This is a practice that requires a person to go on a research journey to understand everything about a subject of interest, and creating a solution based on the data found, whether they used one solution or a combination of solutions. I do not believe I would use this practice often, for it is time consuming and it better suits a situation that requires more thought and time. I think I
Leadership goes beyond management, for some, leadership is instinctual and pours over into your personal life. This paper will discuss a leader I admire in my personal life, and analyze their leadership style. I will discuss how that leader has influenced my leadership style, as well as how things like environment and the economy affect my leadership approach.
It takes a lot to be a leader. It takes experience, communication, positivity, passion, and much more to be an effective leader. Communication, positivity, and passion are the three most important characteristics to me. I represent all three of these with great pride. I communicate effectively whether it be in the classroom, on
The other quality of a leader that I exhibit is hard work and dedication. I do my best to make each assignment or activity I do the best it can possibly be. I only ever miss school, practice or work if I have no other option available to me, and when I do miss, I try to make up my work as quickly as I can. I use the drive that I have in school, swim, and work to strengthen my leadership qualities.
Three leadership characteristics that I value the most are being respectful and being flexible and also open-minded. I believe that in order for someone to be considered to be a leader or to develop the mindset of being a leader then they fist have to be respectful. They have to be able to respect people and understand that there are going to be people who are against them but they have to respect them no matter what the situation may be and that they will gain more respect from the people around them because then they will be considered to be respectful, it is a basic concept of if you respect other then they will respect you. In order for you to get respect they have to give respect to the people they need and people who want to see them fail.
Leader: “The most important quality of a leader is having a vision and the confidence to act on that vision. A leader must be able to make decisions quickly, have knowledge about the area he or she is working, communicate the plan to the team, and have an organized picture of what
What qualities make great leaders? Well, to be a good leader, you have to be a good follower. Leaders are the people who are able to think and act under stress. They are the people who others look upon for guidance, support, and safety. There five important traits: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills. To be self-aware is to understand the affect and impression one has on others. This leads to self-regulation, taking responsibility for actions and deeds. Effective leaders use motivation to drive others to accomplish a task by showing charisma and boosting morale. Common interest and bonds form within a team creating empathy for one another. And lastly, social
What are the most important qualities an effective leader should have? The willingness to listen others ideas and implement them with their own interpersonal skills. A leader must be willing to accept their own faults and learn from them. An active leader is willing to change their methods of leadership in order to grow as a person. A leader puts themselves on the same level as their followers because that way, people are able to share their own opinions without the fear of rejection. There is courage, as well as the resolution to move forward. Leaders have the characteristic that give the people around them the will to succeed. As a teacher, I understand that some people want to whole heartedly improve, and as an educator I must be willing to do everything I can to push that
The leadership qualities that I have always been known to have in the work that I always do are persistence and patience. I strongly believe that my family and Mexican-American heritage have significantly contributed to my leadership qualities since taking care of my autistic brother while my Mom works almost every day was a struggle for me but I adopted patience and persistence which helped me manage to take care of my brother and do school work simultaneously.
To be a leader, one must have certain traits that contribute, in a good way, to their leadership. An example could be persistence. What is a leader without persistence, what would be the point of them doing anything at all? Bravery is another valuable trait to have. In order to be a leader, you must be brave enough to stand for what you believe in and what you want to change, even when the outcome may seem bleak. One more essential trait: motivation. A leader simply cannot be a leader if no one is motivated to follow them. An example of a leader who exhibits all three of these characteristics in a great way would be Martin Luther King Jr. He was an African-American man who lived in a segregated time and place. Quickly, King became a leader
What is a leader? A leader is a person who commands a group, organization, or country. Throughout my life I have encountered the chance to experience position of being a leader. I have experience democratic leaderships through playing on a high school football team, being apart of groups in college for class presentations, being a youth leader in my church, and also being apart of a family. I have gain important qualities of being a good leader through these experiences. Some of valuable leaderships traits that I obtained and strengthened are: how to be a team player, to be a better listener, to have more patience, to be not afraid of constructive criticism, to be outspoken, and to be a problem solver. Even though I have gained a lot, I
There are numerous characteristics of leadership, some of which include: confidence, initiative, good communication, responsibility, compassion, and being open to change; each of theses traits contribute to the quality of a leader and are important factors because without them inadequate decisions can be made (Satterwhite). Many feel that most “are born
The United States Marine Corps has been one of the most powerful military branches in the world for more than twenty-three decades. The most important things that have kept this organization as prestigious and powerful as it is are the famous leadership traits, leadership principles, corps values and the leaders that uphold those traits. Without these structures, this leadership hierarchy this “gun club” would not have lasted this long. The next thousand or so words will help explain those traits, principles and corps values that we hold so high.
Two of the most important qualities for a leader to have are good judgement and courage. Judgement allows a leader to make good decisions and choices for his people. It allows him to make good decisions and choices for his people. It allows him to plan ahead. Courage gives the leader strength to voice these decisions and communicate with his followers in general.
Leadership is something that we are all born with because we are all born. Therefore, who is a leader and who is not depends on who really wants to be a leader and who does not. Leadership is a skill and so it can be learned. As anything that is learned it demands practice and practice to be the best. It would not be something that will happen in a matter of a day. There are multiple elements that make a leader. Collaboration is a key element for successful teamwork. Therefore, a leader must always be in the look for ways to foster collaboration. Creating trust within the team, support face-to-face collaboration, transfer responsibilities when making decisions, and ultimately teach other how to be leaders. All of this is not done if it is not done from the bottom of your own heart.
From research we see that there are many qualities that people value in leaders. Some of these qualities include: having high standards, supportive, inquisitive, involved, honest and having integrity. When I think about leadership I think of a person who is self-aware and always striving for improvement. To be a good leader you need to know how your personal biases may impact decision making in various situations. Bias or values can effect how you interact with those you come in contact with on a daily basis. A good leader can set the tone for students, staff, and parents by being consistent and clear in thoughts and in actions. The leader is the foundation of the building.
