Abraham Lincoln was born in Kentucky in 1809. His parents were in low the social class and they didn’t make a good income at the time. During his childhood, his family moved many times. First they moved to Indiana and then they moved to Illinois. Lincoln had a mother named Nancy Hanks, but she died when Lincoln was still a little boy. Lincoln’ father, Thomas, remarried to Sarah Bush Johnston, who helped Lincoln in his early childhood. Later in his life, he moved to New Salem, Illinois and set up as a store clerk there. When the Black Hawk War started 1832, he became the captain of his volunteer company, serving for three months but seeing no active duty.

Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809, in Hodgenville, Kentucky. In 1816 his family decided to move to Southern Indiana where he grew up in a poor household. Although Lincoln was limited to three brief periods in local schools, and only went to school for one year (so he could constantly work to help support his family), he continued to read with the determination to improve his mind. Before entering politics, Lincoln lived in Illinois and worked a variety of jobs. As a young man, Lincoln was a wrestler in Illinois, impressing others by his physical strength. Lincoln was trying to attain knowledge while working on a farm and keeping up at the store in New Salem, Illinois. Lincoln eventually became a store owner in New Salem, he became more social and loved story-telling, which made him popular with the public.

Abraham Lincoln was argued to be one of the best United States presidents in history. His views on slavery were argued, including the fact that he either did or did not actually free the slaves. It was also believed that he thought that black people shouldn't have the same rights as white people, despite that fact that he allegedly ended slavery in the North and South (especially) region of the United State, with a war. This wasn't his first rodeo when it came to politics, either. He also had a fairly long presidency, even though he was murdered at the Fords Theatre in Washington D.C after serving presidency for 4 years. Which was the average of some presidents.

Abraham Lincoln is by far our most revered president in the history of the United States. He had a strong moral vision of where his country must go to preserve and enlarge the rights of all her people, but he was also a good man with a strong sense of character and a great discipline in the art of law; and he sought to continue the great and mighty legacy of the Constitution. He believed that the Founding Fathers had drawn up the Constitution without the mention of slavery because they felt that it would later die of a natural death. He would soon learn that that would not be the case.

Although his life did not have the happy ending that many expected, he left a mark on millions of lives and reshaped history forever. His accomplishments are too many to fit in a single story. Hundreds of books, papers, and movies have been made to honor this American legend. Throughout his entire life, from childhood up until the day of his death he stood for what was right and defended the defenseless.
