The main job of the Legislative Branch is to make laws for the whole country. It’s also bicameral which means it’s separated into two houses; the Senate and the House of Representatives. The Senate has one-hundred members; two from each state. And the House of Representatives has four hundred thirty-five members; the numbers of representatives depends on the population of the state their representing. Senators represent the entire state, while House members represent a specific section in the state they’re representing.
Our Legislative Branch has two chambers or as some will call it bicameral. The chambers consist of the Senate and the House of Representatives just like the National Legislative Branch. In our Senate we currently have a total of 31
The legislative branch makes laws, approves presidential appointments, is composed of two senators from each state, and the number of congressmen is based upon the population. The legislative branch of regime is composed of the Congress and regime agencies, such as the Regime Printing Office and Library of Congress. These agencies provide assistance to the Congress as well as multiple support accommodations for the Congress. The legislative branch was established by Article I of the Constitution and gave Congress the potency to make laws. The Congress is composed of two parts, the House of Representatives and the
The legislative branch is made up of Congress and the House of Representatives. The Legislative branch checks on the Executive branch by the House being able to select the President and the Senate being able to choose the Vice President if there is no majority vote made by the Electoral College. This is important because these two departments have knowledge in what kinds of people should be our President. The House also has impeachment powers. This makes sure that there are many people to agree if the President should or should not be impeached. The legislative branch can also override the President’s vetoes so there is always a second opinion. The Senate can approve departmental appointments, treaties, and ambassadors. It is important for the Senate to have this job so they can really focus on whom they are choosing. Legislative Branch can approve the replacement of the Vice President, declare war and enact taxes. These are all very important jobs and taken seriously by the Legislative Branch. Lastly, the President must often deliver a State of the Union Address.
First, the Legislative branch is made up of two houses of Congress which are the Senate and the House of Representatives. The Senate is composed of 100 Senators, 2 for per state. The House of Representatives is made of 435 elected members, separated
“The legislative branch is the law making branch of government made up of the Senate, the House of Representatives, and agencies that support Congress.” (USA.gov) The job of this branch is to write the bills. If a bill does not pass in Congress it will not go to the President. The Legislative Branch is made of 535 people, 100 of whom are senators and 435 are representative. Where the Senators will serve six years and the representatives will only serve two.
I believe that the legislative branch has the power because the President can make treaties with other countries. The Senate must confirm these treaties. According to the article“The President can give a speech to Congress on the “State of the Union,” and recommend laws that should be passed.”( section 3, article 2). I still feel that the president has a lot of power because he has the option to recommend laws.
The United States government is comprised of three branches; executive, legislative and judicial. Of these branches it is said that the President, under the executive branch, has the most power. Congress as part of the legislative branch, however according to the text, “American Government Institutions and Policies” by James Wilson, John Dilulio, and Meena Bose, “to the Framers of the Constitution, the bicameral (two-chamber) Congress was “the first branch.” They expected Congress to wield most of the national government’s powers…and [have] the ultimate authority to declare war” (p. 303). However, as we know the commander in chief (the President) has the authority to declare war, and can be considered as the “central figure in American politics”.
The most significant branch of government is the Legislative branch, also known as Congress, because their most important duty is to create and amend laws for our country. The Legislative branch is made up of the House of Representatives and Senate, which together they form the United States Congress. The House has a total of 435 people, divided among the 50 states based on population. The Senate has 100 people, two from each state. One thing that is very interesting is that the Legislative branch has the power to mostly override the other two branches, Executive and Judicial, actions. They have the power over taxes and America’s money/budget. Any decision that the President makes has to go through the legislative branch before passed.
The Legislative branch of the government is the one that interests me the most because this area of government is the one that represents the American People and drafts legislation and votes on laws to better the lives of those living in the United States. In the US Senate particularly, the various committees that a Senator is required to serve on such as foreign relations, homeland security, and the judiciary are the areas that are of the most concern and interest to me.
It has two branches of Congress. The Senate, which has two representatives per state, and the House of Representatives. Idaho has two representatives. The representation is determined on how many people are in the state. They find this out by a census, or a population count. To make a law, a bill has to be approved by Congress. A bill is a proposed law, or what a law is called before it is approved. Then the bill goes to the President to be signed, and then it becomes a law. The Social Security Act and the Voting Rights Act are two bills that Congress has passed. Amendments are changes to current rights or laws. The Bill of Rights is the first ten amendments to the United States Constitution. There have been 27 amendments to the Constitution. Congresses main job is to determine budgets. Budgets are a plan on how to spend the money you have. Supreme Court checks and balances the powers of Congress. To collect money, create laws, control government spending, and to create a military are the four main purposes of government. Clearly the Legislative Branch helps the government run in many
The Legislative Branch consists of Congress, which is made up of two parts; The House of Representatives and the Senate. These two parts of Congress was a result of the 1789 Compromise between the Virginia Plan and the New Jersey Plan. The Virginia Plan was about states wanted more representation in Congress because they were bigger states. From that plan the New Jersey Plan was brought forth. The New Jersey Plan basically said was smaller and bigger states should have equal power in Congress, so the bigger states don’t overpower the smaller states. In 1789 the solution came, with Great Compromise that took parts of both plans and used it. As part of the Virginia plan the House of Representatives was created, that gave representation in
The legislative branch is the most powerful branch in government. The legislative branch is in charge of making and passing laws. They have the power to override a president’s decision, stop laws from being passed, and basically control all decisions the governments makes. The legislative branch, also called the congress, consists of the House of Representatives and the senate. The reason for two houses of congress is to balance out the concerns of smaller but more populated states against states that are larger but with less population (www.Usgovinfo.com).
Legislative branch creates laws. They also have the ability to declare war on other countries. Inside the branch, the Senate, the House of Representatives, or the congress, and other agencies, are elected by the citizens. There are 100 senators and 435 representatives. In Georgia, the two Senators are Johnny Isakson and David Perdue. Some
At the federal level, this branch is structured as a bicameral legislature. The two houses of congress, the House of Representatives, and the Senate, operate jointly to pass laws while providing accurate representation of the American population. The House of Representatives contains 435 members, while the Senate possesses only 100 senators. These uneven amounts are due to the fact that the House of Representative’s number of
The Legislature Branch includes Congress, the Senate, and the House of Representatives was established by Article I of the Constitution. The Legislature Branch actually passes the laws which create an institutional balance in our government this often causes conflict between the legislature and the courts who have to enforce those laws. Passing the laws, sometimes done with unintended consequences for the courts, examples include strict sentencing guidelines and the war on drugs (Meinhold, 2013).
