The Life of Michael Jackson We live in a world where music definitely plays a huge role even in our day-to-day lives. It is important to understand that our music today, has been tremendously impacted by artists from decades before. Some of the best artists in the history of music such as: Elvis Presley and the Beatles have been among the most recognized contributors to music since. Michael Jackson is another icon in the music industry; he is in my opinion, the best artist/singer of all times. Not only was he able to captivate his audience with his music, but he was also an amazing performer. In the next few paragraphs, I’d like to vaguely speak of his life and career and you give you an idea as to why I feel this way about him. On August 29th, 1958, Michael Joseph Jackson was born in Gary Indiana. At a very early age, him along with his siblings formed a musical group; their father was the main reason for this happening. When the group was first formed, they were known as the Jackson Family and included Jackie, Jermaine, and Tito. Michael became the lead singer of the group at just five years old. At that point in time, his career was destined to be successful. Once their brother Marlon joined the group shortly after, they became the well-known, Motown group, The Jackson 5. He had also broke many records that no one believed someone can do especially one of color. Jackson and his brothers were able to make their first four song hit the number one spot being the first group in pop history to ever accomplish. Later his best song to ever publish came out called “Thriller” hit top ten several different times and selling almost thirty million copies.

He had many conflicts with his father, who was physically and emotionally abusive. Michael’s music career began with the formation of The Jackson 5 in 1963, when he joined his brothers, Jackie, Tito, Marlon, and Jermaine in their already booming musical group. This was the start of Michael’s singing career. He was only five years old at this time, and went solo in 1971 at the young age of thirteen (Internet Movie Database).

Michael had two awfully short marriages which lead him to have 3 children who were usually hid from the public eye. Unfortunately, in the 1990’s the downfall of being a famous legend had caught up with Michael. His physical appearance began to change significantly, and his behavior grew extremely bizarre, making him a perfect target for the media. Sadly, on 25 June 2009, Jackson suffered cardiac arrest in his Los Angeles home and passed away.

He had love for every soul that crossed his path in life and never showed the slightest bit of hatred. He thrived on making people smile and sing along to his upbeat songs. He definitely impacted pop culture on his choreography and dance moves. His famous dance move that made people go crazy was when he would be singing and start doing the moonwalk across the stage. His style of dance was different and creative that is made him stand out from other pop singers. And the biggest influence he had on fans and people who watched his videos or listened to his music was his style of fashion. We all know the famous bedazzled white glove and red jacket. This was one of his outfits that had made him stand out and still to this day that glove still has so much meaning and history that people are willing to pay thousands for it.
