Extreme Disaster: A look at the long term effects of global warming Climate change is the biggest and troublesome factor in the environment. Individuals are seeking to understand what is going to on in the world and why concern themselves with the term "global warming". It is a concern that affects the world and its well-being. Due to harsh events that can happen, it can affect many factors in that play a role in nations. It can change the weather in other countries around the globe. One of the most famous causes of it is carbon. Due to this, it is harming our planet. This crisis makes the world worse and contributes to the bad effects happening around the world. A thorough evaluation on the levels of the greenhouse effect, stimulators, and changes in nature will reveal the harmful effects of what is happening to planet earth. Fifty percent of sunlight is absorbed by the Earth. Then, the rest goes inside of greenhouses. Humans increase their productivity while causing the environment to be harmed, also the Earth. For example, factories in Miami-Dade County emit emissions from cars and factories on the daily basis. Due to this, it increases the harmful effects on the environment. Carbon dioxide emissions also pay a role in tarnishing the environment. The heat from the sun is directed through the glass of a greenhouse increasing the levels of heat throughout the place. It can cause it to be
Climate change is a challenge facing our planet right now. Long-term effects may develop as a result, causing threats to natural resources, human health, and the economy. The concern is rising with the amount of carbon emissions and greenhouse gases in our delicate atmosphere.
Due to the effects of climate change long term effects of global change in the United States will occur. Change is predicted to continue through this century as well as beyond as temperatures will continue to rise, and hurricanes will become stronger and more intense. According to the Third National Climate Assessment Report (2017) from the NASA website points put that global climate is to continue to change over this century and beyond and that the magnitude of climate change beyond the next few decades depends primarily on the amount of heat-trapping gases emitted globally, and how sensitive the Earth’s climate is to those emissions (NASA, 2017).
There is no denying that the effects of climate change are upon us. The cause of climate change, however, is often a debatable topic. The livestock industry is expanding at an alarming rate to meet the needs of an increasing population. Throughout the world, between the years 1971 and 2012, meat production has tripled, to 600 billion pounds a year, while the population only grew by 81%. This generation is currently eating meat on a much larger scale than their parents and grandparents ever did, just a few decades ago (Scheer). Climate change can be referred to as “any long-term change in Earth's climate, or in the climate of a region or city. This includes warming, cooling and changes besides temperature.” according to NASA (Dunbar). To combat
*Today, we as human beings are witnessing problematic issues throughout the world that are effecting mankind. Everything from racism, to world poverty, and even radicalize terrorism just to name a few. But outside of the scientific world, many of us fail to understand the long-term effects that global warming and climate change could have on us throughout the world. After observing the 2015 Paris Climate Conference, I truly did not take into account personally, how important this whole concept is. But after taking this class and researching further and further into the topic, I now understand the severity of it all. There are various reasons that exists that are pertinent towards why this topic is highly important to all of humanity. Two of these evidences lie in the severity of hurricanes, and the potential increase droughts and heat waves.
Global warming is the continuous increase in temperature of the earth surface, land, water, and atmosphere that is a huge natural phenomenon that has a tremendous negative impact all over the world to animals, people, land, and earth because of human activity being a big factor such as the excessive burning of fossil fuels, nitrogen-based fertilizers, deforestation, and automobiles thus causing negative effects to earth such as the polar ice melting, the sea level rising, melting glaciers, agriculture.
When teaching controversial topics in science, it is important to be aware of multiple perspectives and arguments of all sides. This paper will cover pedagogies that are used to teach young adolescents and young adults about the controversial topic of global warming. A major aspect of global warming that is necessary for young adolescents and adults to understand is climate change. The climate can change for a variety of different reasons, and it is crucial for students to understand what environmental factors affect climate change and why. Many students hear the term “global warming” and are fearful because they may have some common misconceptions and have associated a negative connotation to the term. As educators we must address the student’s misconceptions and help them to understand how global warming has the potential to be harmful to the environment, but with the proper care and consciousness of those in society, the causes behind global warming can be greatly reduced. In this paper I will address how to make students aware of global warming and address any misconceptions they may have about it; provide ways to guide student thinking towards solutions and ways that they as individuals can help reduce global warming; and finally to address possible outcomes that could be a result of global warming. The teaching methods I will focus on will be aimed for (and adjusted appropriately for) middle grades students, high school
Twenty thousand years ago, during the height of the most recent glacial period, ice sheets stretched from New York state across the Great Lakes to Wisconsin northward through most of Canada (Schneider 39). Mile-high domes of ice tied up so much fresh water that the oceans were some 100 meters lower than today. On a global basis, the world warmed up some five degrees Celsius from the beginning of the ice age’s rapid retreat over 15,000 years ago (39). The large and rapid climatic change affected the atmosphere, temperature, and water cycles. Research shows that planet Earth is in fact still warming. Senator Al Gore says this about global warming:
Did you know that the United States is the largest source for global warming pollution (NRDC)? Although American’s make up only 4 percent of the world’s population, we still produce 25 percent of the carbon dioxide pollution (NRDC). That is more than China, India, and Japan combined (NRDC). There is a huge debate on whether or not global warming exists, but there is an even bigger debate on what the cause of this climate change is. I argue that with the increase of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, humans play a huge part in the causation of global warming.
Global warming is one of the biggest critical and controversial issue facing the world in the twenty-first century. Releasing carbon dioxide at contemporary rates will soon thrust Earth’s temperature significantly up. If the world keeps on going to burn fossil fuels at the current rate, crossing a threshold will hurt all aspects of human civilization: food, water, health, energy, economy and national security and of course, the environment which is the most important aspect. How does it influence our life? What are the effects of global warming you might ask yourself? Well, there are many effects that global warming is having on the environment, particularly rise of sea levels, melting of glaciers, and climate change.
Global warming is already having significant and harmful effects on our communities, our health, and our climate. Sea level rise is accelerating. The number of large wildfires is growing. Dangerous heat waves are becoming more common. Extreme storm events are increasing in many areas. More severe droughts are occurring in others We must take immediate action to address global warming or these consequences will continue to intensify, grow ever more costly, and increasingly affect the entire planet—including you, your community, and your family. The good news is that we have the practical solutions at hand to dramatically reduce our carbon emissions, slow the pace of global warming, and pass on a healthier, safer world to future generations.Global warming is happening now. The planet 's temperature is rising. The trend is clear and unmistakable. Every one of the past 38 years has been warmer than the 20th century average. The 12 warmest years on record have all occurred since 1998. The hottest year ever recorded for the contiguous United States occurred in 2012. Globally, the average surface temperature has increased The scientific evidence is clear. Within the scientific community, there is no debate. An overwhelming majority of climate scientists agree that global warming is happening and that human activity is the primary cause.
Fossil fuel burning, deforestation and the release of industrial chemicals is rapidly heating up the Earth’s surface at an immense rate, and the negative effects of this not only impact society today, but future climates will differ significantly, leading to a global warming without precedent in human history. The greenhouse effect will cause major alteration of rainfall and temperature patterns disastrously impacting nature and the global economy that is so closely tied to the environment.
Global Warming is the result of too many gases, which accumulate in the atmosphere. These chemicals build up and produce what is known as greenhouse gases. This results in temperature changes and various weather patterns. The gases, which rise up into the atmosphere retain a lot of heat, which can cause higher temperatures and more moisture in the air. Many of the pollutants in the atmosphere come from everyday human activities, such as using automobiles, factory fuels, and agricultural waste.
Global warming is one of the most alarming and pressing issues that the world faces today. Global warming is the rise of the earth’s temperature over time. The damaging effects of global warming have become more and more apparent, with more tropical storms and hurricanes causing massive destruction, more animal species losing their habitats and coming under threat, rising sea levels, etc.
Earth’s temperatures are largely determined by the balance between the amount of sun energy entering the atmosphere and the amount of energy lost from the earth into space. The natural greenhouse effect is a band of gases that trap heat emanating from the planet’s surface. These gases are water vapour, methane, nitrous oxide, chlorofluorocarbons, tropospheric ozone and mainly carbon dioxide. These gases allow visible sunlight energy to penetrate deep into the atmosphere; they are then absorbed by oceans and land masses. When this stored energy is released back to space as infrared radiation and heat, the greenhouse gases act as an insulating blanket in helping to maintain warm temperatures needed for basic human survival. This is what scientists call the “greenhouse gas effect” Without it; scientists estimated that our planet would be 35 degrees cooler than usual, which would be too cold for an eco-system to sustain. We are contributing to the release of these greenhouse gases by burning waste, wood products, and fossil fuels that emit carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Our farmers use synthetic fertilizers that emit nitrous oxide and methane is produced in our processes of composing waste in landfills, and last but not least the natural population growth increases our usage of these greenhouse gases when there
