Human trafficking,the illegal practice of trading in human beings for the purpose of prostitution, forced labor, or other forms of exploitation, is a crime that affects the most vulnerable citizens of society. After drugs, it the largest criminal activity globally! The victims must be the primary concern for all law enforcement units. Human trafficking in the world can be diminished and possibly erased through teachings, government intervention, and awareness.

The five most important scenes of The Scarlet Letter were first, Hester holding baby Pearl being shamed on the scaffold right in the beginning. Second, when Chillingworth found out that Dimmesdale was the man who committed adultery with Hester. Third, when Hester and Dimmesdale were in the forest talking about fleeing and living with only each other and Pearl. Fourth, in which Dimmesdale finally reveals his sin to the public as he is on death’s bed. Finally, the last most important scene of the novel, is the “happy ending” when everything gets wrapped up.

After reading the novel, O Pioneers! it was hard to judge whether it was a tragedy or a triumph. The only way I see it as a tragedy is that Emil and Maria died. I knew, since page six of the book that they were going to be together. It kind of broke my heart to see later on that she had married someone else. But when her and Emil got shot, I thought it may finish as a tragedy. But overall, I would see it as a triumph in the way that the Bergsons finally got what they wanted out of their land. It made them rich. Also, Alexandra and Carl finally married. And being that the whole novel was basically based on the land, they were triumphant in getting what they risked, what they longed for.

Frederick Douglass, the author and narrator of the Narrative, is a powerful speaker for the abolitionist movement. His story is about the road from slavery to freedom, and along this road he faced many challenges and had many realizations. One of the first epiphanies he had was when he realized what slavery really was. Born on a slave on Colonel Lloyd’s planation, he witnessed the worst kinds of suffering. For example, he saw his Aunt Hester get beaten on multiple occasions, by the Captain’s overseer, Mr. Plummer. (343) He was too young to be whipped himself but he recalled feeling like a participant in this abuse. Without really knowing it, still, he suffered. This moment was an introduction to him into the cruel world of slavery. Douglass was separated from his mother, Harriet Bailey, soon after birth and recalled only seeing his mother on the rare occasions when she could walk twelve miles after dark to lie next to him at night. When he was seven and she died, he wasn’t allowed to go to her funeral. (340) These first realizations of what he was going to encounter soon in life were significant events in his life because he got glimpses of what slavery really was.

This severe yet humorous personal caution is written as such almost to dissuade his readers from having any high expectations. North and south is considered as her best known work .It features a strong lead female ,a mature love story and relevant social and political explanation about industrialization and class conflict present in mid-19th century in England. Through, North and south, Elizabeth Gaskell challenges the limiting gender roles of the Victorian era , by giving her heroin , Margaret both the feminine qualities of virtue and selflessness and Masculine qualities of independence and action . Gaskell perfectly balances her heroin between feminine and the masculine world as to not to appear “unwomanly” and subtly influence the readers and call for changing gender norms.
