Consequences of Lust In “The Love of My Life” China character reflects to an irrational young teenage girl, she is an intelligent girl that tries to have good grades and be on top of her class. China was raised from rich parents, she didn’t have to worried about money nor paying for college. She was a spoiled young girl that also, got everything she had ever requested. China cared for people’s opinions and wanted to represent her family’s name in a good well-spoken way. China was controllable along with needing to do things by her approach. China felt in love with a guy named Jeremy, a type of emotion that could be consider destructive fondness. However, Jeremy character in “The Love of My Life” could be described as mistakenly lost blind teenage boy. Jeremy comes from high class family as well, he doesn’t have to worry about money and has only one parent. His mother is never around, he’s mostly alone, Jeremy seems to be more relax towards school than china. He just wants to enjoy his life and relax also, an adventures teenage boy. China and Jeremy parents got along very well and were welcome to each of their houses. For example, Boyle the author of “The Love of My Life” published the story in 2001, it’s based on real news events that had happen a few years ago. The setting of “The Love of My life took place in Danbury on a hotel, college, prison and home. Jeremy said, “Free at last”, pitching his voice down low till it was exactly like Martin Luther King’s” (19) meaning
The movies contribute to how Jeremy and China are both naive in terms of relationships as this is one of the only places where they an learn and follow a relationship. China was excited for her night with Jeremy as they would be alone all night. China kept “thinking how it was in the movies...that was how it was supposed to be”(Boyle 555). China and Jeremy’s sexual relationship had been hurried and not one of passion, and the night alone allows them to experience that passion. China’s knowledge on sex in relationships is based off of movies and that is where she sets her bar of expectations and desires, that her and Jeremy's experience should be similar to that of the movies and anything less that that is not desirable. The movies that she watches do not show the importance of using protection or that there are risks to having sex such as pregnancy. The quote exemplifies her naive nature as she does not know what a real relationship is like or what one should consist of which ends up controlling her image of a relationship with a significant other. For China, movies that portray unrealistic relationships clouds her view and judgement of how one should act and behave in a relationship and anything short of what was experience in the movies was a
In the story “Two Kinds”, author Amy Tan, who is a Chinese-American, describes the conflicts in the relationship of a mother and daughter living in California. The protagonist in this story Jing-mei Woo’s mother is born and raised in China, and immigrates to the United States to escape from the Chinese Civil War. For many years she maintained complete Chinese traditional values, and has been abided by it deliberately. This kind of traditional Chinese culture has also affected her daughter profoundly. However, Jing-mei is born and raised in the United States. Despite she has a Chinese mother; she is unfamiliar and uncomfortable with Chinese

To some parents, teenagers may seem like aliens because they don’t understand them. In reality, the world deals with communicating with the unknown, this happens with languages and miscommunication between parents and children. In the story, Louise deals with trying to understand the heptapods language trying to communicte with her daughter. In The Story of Your Life, Ted Chiang uses imagery to help support the theme “Communication with the unknown”.
Language and communication can be used to show one’s affection towards another person, yet it is still difficult to convey the true meaning of love. The short story “What We Talk About When We Talk About Love” by Raymond Carver signifies through sharing vastly different experiences, that language is inadequate in communicating a clear definition of love. Each of the four characters in the short story explain to the group their own meaning of love while striving to come to a coherent conclusion. The first experience brought upon to the conversation was Terri’s ex-husband Ed. Terri claimed that although Ed beat her up, he loved her and “loved her so much he tried to kill her” (Carver 651). After Terri left him, he drank rat poison and when
Humor was always an interesting thing from his daughter. Very few expected the macabre from a young girl such as her, but he knew his little angel was a skewed mind and he accepted it with good grace. It was something he himself had, something that made him a little bit of an oddity amongst the people that knew him. That was what made him such a good Father perhaps, the fact that the social world seemed to be something that he would easily skip out on if it meant that he would not have to deal with the world of humanity. The utter annoying grouping of the species. It almost made him sneer sometimes as he looked at social media, Facebook postings, the utter insanity that the world had come to represent. Nevertheless it let him dedicate the proper time to a woman who deserved it. Not a wife, not a fiancée, and not a girlfriend.
When in actuality , they unlike Jeremy abandoned me. Though I cannot relate to China, as to what she
When I was younger I would make conversation with any breathing personage. As I grew older just the thought of having to interact with someone I did not know was mortifying. Therefore, signing up for a full week of a Young Life camp was one of the hardest decisions I have made. Trying to back out the night before, I wandered on to the bus at six in the morning. A forty-five minute drive and forced to scarf up my cell phone. Arriving at the camp we were greeted by a thousand smiling faces. Settling into our cabin, I was a little more relaxed until I heard the bell. Curiously, we walked out onto the porch to see everyone running. Our cabin quickly followed into the chaos. I Pushed and scraped my way through everyone, and made my way to the front row of the club room. I thought to myself how idiotic it was, I was already a Christian. What else is there to learn about God? Little did I know. That night was the first time I had been introduced to God on a deeper level. I saw him as intimidating and loving instead of a fictional character in my head. I felt comfort and at peace for once. July twenty-fourth, two thousand and sixteen is the day that changed my life forever. I heard the greatest love story of all time. Most people know what it feels like to be loved by a family member, friend, or a spouse. However, nobody can grip the thought of someone loving them as much as Jesus. He could have stopped the Roman soldiers at any given point. However, without His mercy and grace we
It was a beautiful day in Europe, it was a very quiet, it was so quiet you could hear the birds chirping and the wind howling and a beautiful child playing around on the farm. That day was a full of surprises that no one expected.A family lived in a little house right next to a farm there in that little housed lived a mother, a daughter and a father's name was Zach he was a farmer the mother was named Mary she was a housewife she stayed at home most of her days women weren’t allowed to go to school or get a job so they just stayed home to take cared of their house and her child her name was Davina. Everyone needs their partner in crime, their ride or die, the Bonnie to their Clyde, the peanut butter to their jelly, their person. And it wasn’t until my Junior year that I had one. And yes this is a love story. It’s probably really cheesey and if you feel the need to laugh you can, I was probably trying to be funny.
It was a rainy summer night back in 2009. The clock struck eight and my mom could hear the pitter patter of my feet as I rushed into the living room. My tiny arms struggled to contain the bowl of popcorn that left traces in my path. I plopped down next to her, as she turned up the volume to the sound system. My favorite movie was back on T.V., and I couldn’t have been more excited.
I don’t think he know How easily he can make Me smile Cause now that I look back on my life I realize that every time I thought I was being Rejected from something good, Like a wolf in love with the moon Cries for a love it will never touch I realize I was actually being RE-DIRECTED to something better The truth?
When I look at this picture...I see a girl care free, happy, in love. There was not a worry in the world. This is by far one of my favorite pictures from my wedding day. The light, the way he is nestling up against me, my expression. It all just felt right.
Thank you for the opportunity to have this space to tell a story of triumph!
My life is finally starting to fall into place, like a missing puzzle piece. It’s been nine long and stressful years, since I had last seen my brother . My dad always told me “ Let time play itself out and hope for the best”. I never thought my dad’s words would come true, until now. This is how it all began,
