Lusitania The Lusitania lost over one thousand one hundred ninety eight people in the battle against the U-boat. When the Lusitania sank it was such a sad tragedy day. I would feel so sad and scared if my family and I were hit by a U-boat's torpedo. The author states that Elsie, her dad, and brother were hearing some rumors that the Germans might hit the Lusitania. In the end they were hit by a torpedo and their lives changed in an instant. Elsie’s dad told her that they're going to have to jump off the boat at the right time or they will get squished or be sucked under the boat. I thought the author explained this part of the story very well with lots of detail. This would make me feel terrified and a little sick. I think
The sinking of The Lusitania put enough public pressure on the president to become more involved in the war because of the loss of American Life. Let's start from the beginning World War one started on the 28th of July 1914 between two sides; The triple alliance and the triple entente. It came to an end on the 11th of November 1918. Difference in policies were to blame, although the immediate cause of World War one was the assassination of Austria’s Archduke Franz Ferdinand, who was an Archduke of Austria-Este, Austro-Hungarian and Royal Prince of Hungary and of Bohemia’s. The war started mainly because of four aspects: Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism and Nationalism. This is because big armies become potential threats to other countries, other countries started forcing alliances in order to secure land. Imperialism was caused because building an
On the Captain’s order, the oiler rows the boat directly toward the shore. The boat capsizes and the people on the boat are so weak that it is hard for them to even keep their heads above water.

Yet, events in Europe were altering President Wilson's outlook on the war. Germany's campaign of unrestricted submarine warfare was the cause of the loss of American lives in the Atlantic. The sinking of the Lusitania, a British liner, off the coast of Ireland on May 7, 1915 by a German U-boat that killed 128 Americans was a harsh reality that

“The war to end all wars” was what people called it. Others called it “The Great War”. Many people died in this war. And there was really no right or wrong in this war; meaning that I don’t think there really was a side that was wrong or right, and I’m going to explain why further in this essay. I think both sides were wrong in things, but in the end, Germany was the one that suffered the most because they were being forced to pay billions dollars in the war debts, and let the French control a rich mine for well over 15 years. But before that Germany and the Britain’s were at war with each other. And Germany sent out a warning to everyone saying that every ship crossing the war zone line (which was the
The source is valuable for understanding how the sinking of the Lusitania caused violence within Liverpool. The source suggests that one reason why the riots occurred was due to public outrage. O’Mara states that that the ‘names of the drowned’ were ‘appalling’. This is supported by the fact that Liverpool was ‘Lusitania’s home port’. This would have caused locals to feel personally attacked by the sinking of the Lusitania. To add, the majority of those who were lost in the sinking were from the Merseyside. Over 150 of those who died were from the city of Liverpool, this would have added to the rage of the riots as the tight-knit community would have known people affected by the sinking, O’Mara goes on to talk of the ‘cries of the women whose

In Dead Wake: The Crossing of the Lusitania, the author, Erik Larson, writes a nonfiction novel surrounding the sinking of the Lusitania. Larson argues that Room 40 purposely did not send Juno to rescue the passengers of the Lusitania. He claims that such an event influenced America to join World War I and side with Great Britain.
Following Britain’s blockade, Germany adopted a counterstrategy of unrestricted sinking ships in open seas. The first action was the sinking of the Lusitania. In the afternoon of May 15th a German submarine torpedoed the cruise liner where 123 American men, women and children lost their lives (Simpson, 1972). In addition the Sussex, a passenger ferry was torpedoed one year later. Germany forces has violated the pact of naval warfare as well as hindered the American’s high sea trade. Despite holding isolationism, the conflict has significantly affected the United States. The events are not only a threat to the sovereignty but will also cripple down

Ender Wiggins showed interest in the Lusitania and the Piggies ever since he heard about the horrific death of Pipo. This news from Jane on his death gave him an idea that would put a smile on his face. The intricacies of the universe made it difficult for Ender to reach his primary goal of finding a place for the Hive Queen. Ender thought that Lusitania was the right place. The only problem was that lusitania was already inhabited by the piggies. The starways congress did not allow the humans to share information with the piggies but this is disobeyed on many occasions. In doing this, the piggies not only learn from Ender, but Ender learns from the piggies. Before Ender, the culture and habits of the piggies were unknown. Through compassion
128 Americans that were on board were killed. However, the ‘Lusitania’ was not an American ship and Wilson accepted the Germans change in policy that their U-boats would now adopt ‘cruiser’ tactics and surface to attack ships with guns fitted onto their decks. While the German chancellor managed to avoid a major diplomatic issue this time, the German military was adamant that the ‘cruiser’ tactic was not going to be used as it was to dangerous for the lightly armored U-boats of the time.
