Camp Merrimac was a day camp that was for the arts. Nonetheless, it also had normal camp activities like canoeing. Pearl’s summer was off to a rough start but it was starting to get better. JBIII got mad and since they were in groups he and another Dude switched. Pearl was stuck with a bossy, know-it- all and didn’t have much fun at the waterpark. Pearl’s and JBIII’s fight continued at the Garlic festival that the camp also takes them to. Pearl was going to apologize when they got back from the Garlic Festival but landed JBIII in the hospital. Pearl was running up to JBIII while he was standing on the edge of the dock and was going to apologize but she knocked him elbow first on the dock and broke his elbow. Pearl ended up not apologizing to him for he was already being whisked away by EMS. Camp Merrimac ended that day and Pearl was upset not just that camp had ended but that she had broken her best friend’s arm. Pearl’s door closed but was opening once

Turner has this possible ability to be able to connect a sense of creativity and mystery to his reality. Turner utilizes a range of language features when outlining the central object to the story ‘A severed human finger’ (pg 3). The finger is the innermost focus of the tale. This connection is what creates a true horror setting and it is evident when Turner states.. ’clearly mummified the skin…dry … but it was nonetheless perfect’

It was a rainy April 1st when Jess was born. The irony of her being born on April Fools Day was tremendous. Why? Well, because everyone thought she was just a big old joke.
