Magna Carta The Magna Carta meant to serve as a solution to King John's political woes. It outlined 37 points, although originally it contained many more points that were later removed or revised, that addressed grievances with his rule. The Magna Carta established laws that not only had to be followed by the people but also the monarchy and it put forth rights that should be given to everyone. Originally the Magna Carta was drafted to soothe the rebellious barons that King John was dealing with, although that didn't really work out. It was only in 1225, that the Magna Carta now distributed by King Henry III, actually resembled the current 37 point version known today. All in all, the Magna Carta serves as a foundation for democracy in England,
Even though this was true, they were directly produced to King John to stop his unfair rule. This document is considered a landmark document because initially it only applied to the country of England. It issued many important laws that are used today. It made sure that the cruel and unusual punishments that were not forbidden became illegal. This is simply because of moral rights. Another major clause in the Great Charter was that one person cannot be held responsible for a crime without a trial by jury of his/her friends. Also, a major clause of the document is that justice should not be sold or unnecessarily overdue. Throughout history, the Magna Carta was modified and sort of “recreated”. By the twentieth century, only three major clauses remained in the document. The first clause granted freedom to the Church of England. These churches are Christian Catholic with strong beliefs in their religious rights. Furthermore, they guarantee the customs and liberties of the English city of London. Lastly, they forbid uninformed arrest and the transaction of justice.
Magna Carta, adopted in 1215, established a limited government. With the charter in effect, the power of the monarchy was no longer absolute. It was issued by King John of England to improve relations between the monarchy and the general population. Essentially, it was his admission that everyone, even rulers, should live inside the law, and that there would be consequences for
In 1215, a group of barons concerned John and forced him to sign the Magna Carta which was a great charter. The two very important ideas that would shape English government in the future comprised this document. First, it asserted that the nobles had certain rights. With time, the rights were extended to all English citizens. Second, the Magna Carta made it clear that the monarch must obey the law. The barons included provisions that recognized the legal rights of townspeople and the Church as well as protecting their own

idea that the power of any government should be limited is a very important principle in the American belief system. This idea explains that a government should never gain too much power, and should be limited to a certain extent. The Magna Carta, an important root of the Constitution, supports this principle very well. It was the first document to limit a government power, in this case, the Monarchy of England. The Magna Carta explained the certain powers the King could not have certain powers. These powers included, power of the purse, balance of power, due process of law, rule of law, limited government, and security of private property. Many of these ideas have been included in the United States Constitution.
In 1215 King John of England wielded absolute power. A group of barons were unhappy and made the King sign a charter which in theory limited the constitutional power of the King and gave powerful barons a say in legislation and taxation. The Magna Carta was far from creating a democracy, but it was very significant for ending the rule of absolute monarchs and had the seeds of parliamentary government. It resulted in a limited monarchy. The king now had to consult his nobles before implementing taxes and going to war. The king's power was limited because he had to consult his nobles to tax citizens or go to war. The transfer of some power from the king to the nobles introduces basic freedom and property rights to "free men".
King John signed the Magna Carta in 1215. This document was made to guarantee basic civil and political liberties to every American. The Magna Carta gives people protection against the royal King’s power. The king use to use his power over the people. With the Magna Carta it showed the public and royalty that the King was not above the law. He has to hold himself and respect the laws put in place and not abuse his power or position. Key elements of the Magna Carta are used when creating our modern American Criminal Justice System. This document was an important piece of the modern American Criminal Justice System because it paved the way to democracy. The founding fathers used this in creating our justice system and sought out ways to improve some of the major elements created in the Magna Carta. They used the Magna Carta as a basis for citizen’s rights. The U.S. Constitution and the American Bill of Rights are seen to have gotten some of the Magna Carta’s elements. Another way the Magna Carta is an important document to the modern American Criminal Justice system is with the right to due process. This then led to the right of a fair trial by a jury of our peers. Due process gives citizens the right that they cannot be imprisoned or punished without having the right to a trial. Having a proper legal system is because of the Magna Carta. This document is an important piece of our history.
Thank you for answering this question in the way that you did. Also, I answered the same question as you. I really liked how you broke your answer down into four separate paragraphs. It helped me as a reader to stay focus and was able to see that the answer was being answered. I agree with you when you said the importance of the Magna Carta was that the king is bound by the law. You did a great job of explaining this question. Thank you.
The document that is known as Magna Carta or The Great Charter as it is known in English is arguably the most influential legal document ever written and it has great bearing upon the United states constitution and government even to this very day. The document was created in England during the year of twelve fifteen. It was made in response to the actions of King John who had committed actions such as starving political adversaries, murdering his nephew and having placed high taxes on his barons who were forced to pay at the threat of having their property taken in order to pay for his expensive foreign wars. These actions of the king had created much animosity toward the church and the barons who served under the king and put him in danger
As you can see, the Magna Carta is a very important story in history. It brought civilization, it brought freedom, and it brought happiness for a while (Well, maybe not for King John). It taught humans to treat people the way they want to be treated. It was one of the reasons the United States is there today. The Magna Carta had an impact on people in a good way, and a bad.
Gun violence at American colleges and universities has revived the debate surrounding concealed weapons on campus. This study examined college student and faculty opinions on two college campuses, focusing on their attitudes towards private citizens carrying concealed guns on campus. Data were collected during the fall 2008 and spring 2009, and over 2,100 students, staff, faculty, and administrators on the two campuses participated in the research. The results indicate over 70 % of respondents oppose the option of carrying concealed guns on campus. In addition, the idea of more guns on campus makes the majority of students and faculty feel less safe, and allowing concealed weapons serves to decrease the sense of campus safety. Before the Magna Carta in 1215, no document had said that everyone was subject to the law. King John was a primary reason for this to change. He was an unsuccessful military leader, raised taxes without discussing the barons, and got England kicked out of the Catholic Church. After an unsuccessful military mission, John went to London to demand more money. There, his barons were not willing to listen and rebelled. The barons captured London and forced John to discuss change. That’s when the Magna Carta was born.
