Magna Carta The Magna Carta meant to serve as a solution to King John's political woes. It outlined 37 points, although originally it contained many more points that were later removed or revised, that addressed grievances with his rule. The Magna Carta established laws that not only had to be followed by the people but also the monarchy and it put forth rights that should be given to everyone. Originally the Magna Carta was drafted to soothe the rebellious barons that King John was dealing with, although that didn't really work out. It was only in 1225, that the Magna Carta now distributed by King Henry III, actually resembled the current 37 point version known today. All in all, the Magna Carta serves as a foundation for democracy in England,
