The Main Events That Caused The American Revolution

The Revolutionary War clearly illustrates this topic. The Revolutionary War was indeed revolutionary. It created the country we live in today- America. However, the war dispersed the colonists into two sides: the Patriots and the Loyalists. Each side had their own point of view. The Loyalists felt Britain will protect them just as a mother protects her child. The Patriots felt Britain will annihilate the minute shred of freedom they have left just as a wicked stepmother does to her stepchild.

The events leading to the American Revolution began as soon as the English settlers set foot on Northern America and lasted for about one and one half centuries. When America was discovered and settled by the English, there was no “set” way of governing these colonies. The King and the British Parliament created the laws. Some colonies were governed themselves; others were governed by officials of the King.

I will be giving three events that I think caused the American revolution, The king placed taxes on the colonists, the Tea Act, The Townsend Act. The first cause I think led to the American revolution was the king placed taxes on the colonies to pay off England's war debts and it made the colonists angry because they didn't get to vote on if they wanted to be taxed or not. The second event I think caused the American revolution is they put a tax on tea so if you wanted to buy tea you would have to buy it from the East India company. The third event I think caused the American revolution was the Townshend act, The Townshend act placed taxes on imported goods paper, wool, tea, and other goods the colonists imported from Britain,

The causes of the American Revolution go back to the beginning of salutary neglect and the French and Indian War, as well as changes in the thinking of society. The effects of these events and other factors led to pressure within the colonies, ultimately resulting in rebellion.

Beginning in 1763, the Americans had a long road of aggravation ahead of them as laws limiting their control were established by Britain. The French and Indian War caused a need for regulations due to the debt Britain accumulated and tensions between Indians and colonists. However, the colonies had no control over the regulations imposed on them. Britain restricted their territories, surrounded them with British soldiers, and continued to escalate the regulations. Eventually, the Americans rebelled in response to these actions. In the late 18th century, Britain’s unrelenting control over the American colonies was the primary cause of the American Revolution.

The American Revolution began in 1755 as an open conflict between the thirteen colonies and Great Britain. The Treaty of Paris had ended that war in 1783, giving the colonies their own independence. There are many factors contributing to the start of the Revolution, but the war began as the way The Great Britain treated the colonies versus the way the colonies felt they should be treated. Some of the events that were led to the American Revolution forced the colonies to be mad at the British which surrounded the Seven Years War. One of the main events that happened during the French and Indian war was trading. A lot of the American colonies had to rely on British for supplies and they were unhappy because that was there only way for trade. Britain was trying to control everything and the colonies did not like the way they were governed. An example of this would be mercantilism, and how the British used these colonies to make money so that they could get more resources to make more products. In order for this to work they had to have more land, so they ordered all the colonies to go in a different direction, away from the land.

Imagine a country where the government could do anything they wanted because it was simply their “right.” The revolution was caused by a series of events which were started by the king passing taxes on the colonists and enforcing laws which were violating the civilians natural rights. There has been an argument since the war started about whether the colonists were justified in declaring independence and breaking away from their home country. The American colonists were justified in waging war for independence against Britain because the british government ignored countless formal petitions sent, the government didn’t have the right to impose taxes on the settlers, and Britain waged war against the colonists.

During the 1760s, the French and Indian War had just ended and the British were stuck with tons of debt. The British Parliament decided to pass several new laws and raise the price of taxes that the colonists had to pay for. Before this time, the British Parliament was never involved in the Colonies way of life. When the British sprung back into the Colonies lives raising taxes with the Stamp Act and creating new laws like the Quartering Act, the Colonies were caught off guard and decided to fight back. The British had always owned them, but never played a big enough role as to control every aspect of their life, this was a new idea to the Colonies that they did not agree with. Lack of Representation in Parliament was the leading cause of the Colonists not paying the taxes and taking action to demand Independence from England. Thus, began the long journey of what came to be known as the American Revolution.

The American Revolution, a time of colonial unity and awakening, pushed the development of early American society. Throughout 1764 to 1773 the unreasonable taxation from the British on the colonists due to the Seven Year war pushed the start of the revolution. The passing of multiple laws by parliament, the increase of taxes and over control from the British made it inevitable that the colonists rebel. The thirteen colonies of Great Britain were pushing to become what we now know as the thirteen colonies of the United States. By the eve of the Revolution, the colonists had started to move away from British control and developed an acute sense of identity and unity because of the necessity to be a united force in their fight for independence and abolish from the unjust ruling.

In the time directly following the American Revolution, life for American people was changed irrevocably. With the fear of tyranny still hanging over the colonists heads, a new governmental system was formed that allowed for a changed way of life unseen to the world up until this point. The American Revolution offered a multitude of fundamental changes to the political, social, and economic lifestyles of Americans.

The American Revolution was a conflict between the British empire and its American colonies that spanned from 1765 to 1783. There were many events that led up to the revolution, but there was one main cause. The mistreatment of the colonies was a main cause of the American Revolution. Within the colonies there were three actions that specifically displayed the mistreatment by the British. These three actions that displayed the mistreatment and caused the American Revolution include; taxation, lack of representation, and governing. Taxation by the British was viewed as mistreatment by the colonist because the colonists were being taxed for nearly everything from tea to stamps. Lack of Representation for the colonies in British politics was also seen as mistreatment because the British were violating the rights of the colonists without their consent. Finally, no government for the colonies was a mistreatment it was all run by the king. All of these mistreatments played a key role in starting the Revolution.
