I. Introduction According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, Urbanisation refers to the process by which towns and cities are formed and become larger as more and more people begin living and working in central areas. It affects a city in different aspects, starting from its economy, to its resources.

It plays a major role in how a city is to develop and prosper. Batam for example, is in its expanding state, with it alluring many investors and people testing out their luck and find a living. In addition to that, it is a considered as a social culture, which means that urbanisation causes people to interact more often.

Cities are greatly influenced, positively or negatively by urbanisation. Countries such as Beijing have an urbanisation rate of 86% according to china.org, which impacts the rapid improvement in the city itself but at the same time brings problems too-- overpopulation.

When a city gets urbanized, demand for facilities and even housing increases as a result. This is the reason why we decided to work with the international organization, Habitat for Humanity, which main platform is to help provide decent housing for the people in need.
