The Major Marketing Strategies Most of the major marketing strategies can be classified into one of the following four categories: * Product * Place * Price * Promotion These four categories are known as the marketing mix or the four P’s of marketing. These are variables that the marketing managers have to control in order to satisfy their customers. Below is a diagram of how the marketing mix comprises. Product: looks at the physical product or service offered to the consumer, it also refers to the service or the conveniences that are part of the offering. I believe the only positive side to the ‘Product’ is that the service/support as the staff is very friendly and there is always someone to help. There is also a gym facility which does not cost much and upstairs there is a seating area which incorporates a cafeteria The ‘price’ is quite low the standard rates of using the pool are under £5.00 and discounts are made available for OAP, students and children as well as group booking and school hire. The leasing facility is quite vast as both pools are made available to lease out for occasions such as birthdays, parties and for school use. Place. We were told by a member of the Hayes pool management that the pool is in a very poor condition due to both practicality and economic reasons. The pool is located in an area that falls just outside of the circumference on which the government funds any leisure activities endorsed by the council. If the pool was moved a few metres down the road it would be able to improve its facilities because the government could fund refurbishment and the upgrading of the site. There is not much market coverage because it is located away from the more populated area of the Town and is located on a road that is only really used as a back road into Hayes Town.
