Motivation is an important part of managing process. A team of extremely qualified and motivated employees is necessary for achieving objectives of an organization. It is only through motivation process, they donate maximum for accomplishing objectives. Without motivation, they may not have a suggestion to maintain or improve their efficiency.

What is motivation? As manager’s, motivation is one of the most vital and crucial assets to possess in managing a business. This drive is a critical tool to use in the work place and determine the success or failure of an organization. Motivation is a driving force that initiates and directs behavior. In other words, motivation is an internal energy that drives an individual to do something in order to achieve a certain goal. Therefore, creating a motivating environment in the workplace will lead to happy employees. Creating a work environment like this, managers can expect low staff turnovers, improved productivity, happy customers, and better financial performance. Therefore, the input of motivation use towards employees determines the output efficiency of the company. However, everyone involved in an organization is motivated differently. Everybody has their own individual needs in regards to motivation. Depending on how motivated a person is, determines the effort that individual puts into the work and therefore, how productive they are.

According to the New York Times Magazine article conjugal visits a privilege, not the right because of the several reasons. The ability to have sex with a spouse is not a fundamental human right for someone who is in the prison. It is a reasonable freedom for a prisoner to lose (Klosterman, 2014). The conjugal visits apply to everyone, whatever their sexual orientation because it represents gender equality and we live in the state where first make gay marriage legal. Physiological needs are the essential components humans need for survival, such as food and water. Safety needs are the desires of security and, of course, safety. Human motivation can refer to the fulfillment or satisfaction of various needs. These needs encompass a broader range of human desires, starting from the fundamental ones for survival to the complex emotional needs for comfort that surrounds individual’s psychological well-being. In 1954, one of the social psychologist by the name Abraham Maslow who was interested in a broad spectrum of analyzing and understanding the human needs came up with a hierarchy of human needs theory portrayed in the form of a pyramid (Maslow, 2013). Typically, a hierarchy is a presentation or an arrangement that ranks concepts or people from the lowest level to the highest. According to Maslow, people must meet the wants at the lower level of the hierarchy before they can have the motivation to work for the next heights.
What is motivation? Motivation is defined as “an individual’s willingness to respond to the organization’s requirements in short run.” (P.71 Dixon, 1998) For the purposes of this research paper, I find the most fitting definition of motivation is to define it as “the force that Energizes, Directs, and Sustains behavior.” (uri.com, 2014) Motivation is imperative to productivity. A highly motivated staff often leads to high productivity from the workforce.
The success of any organization depends on the ability of managers to provide a motivating environment for its employees. Motivated employees are more productive, happier, and stay with the organization longer. One of the primary tasks a manager faces is to find out what motivates their staff. By understanding employee needs, managers can understand what rewards to use to motivate them. Providing constant feedback, incentives and the ability to change as needed all a part of this plan. I believe that the motivation plan can be the first step in expanding the boundaries of performance. If the plan is used and changes made to fit each unique situation that may arise this motivational plan can provide many rewards and the organization will benefit. Proper motivation is the key to successful business.
