1. If I were to open a coffee shop, I would definitely need to consider Porter’s Five Forces in order to make informed decisions. The rivalry section of Porter’s Five Forces would definitely be strong. This is because on almost every corner there is a coffee shop, which means there is lots of competition. The bargaining power of the consumer would also be strong. Since there are so many coffee shops offering a wide variety of prices, a customer could give their business to a coffee shop with lower prices which would be an example of a consumer using their bargaining power. a. The Mayo Clinic doctors are always there to help their fellow doctors diagnose or analyze patients with the main goal of helping cure the patient. This models the biblical principle of helping others. Throughout the Bible, believers are called to help and encourage each other. The Mayo Clinic has embodied this biblical model by allowing doctors to quickly help their fellow doctors, and as a result, their patients are able to be healed more quickly and effectively. b. Mayo Clinic focuses on the atmosphere of the hospital by designing the environment to reduce stress levels. This is done by putting paintings and sculptures around the hospital which helps create a sense of peace and comfort, contrary to most hospitals. In addition, there is music playing for patients to enjoy before seeing their doctor, natural light coming through the ceiling, and plants and trees around the waiting space. The main service variables that I found were very apparent in the Mayo Clinic were reliability, assurance, tangibles, and empathy. Customers were extremely confident in the ability and reliability of the service and consistency of the care that patients will receive when they go to Mayo Clinic. This leads to the second main service variable that was apparent: assurances. This is because many patients have come out and let others know about the amazing care that they have received at Mayo Clinic. As a result, many people are now extremely confident in the services that Mayo Clinic provides. The tangibles that Mayo Clinic focuses on such as making sure the hospital space creates a sense of peace and calm within the patient show that they clearly are empathetic with their patients. Also, dependability was a huge part of Mayo Clinic’s beginning with the Mayo brothers always willing to make house calls for their patients by horse and buggy. Overall, there is a reason why Mayo Clinic has been so successful and service is definitely a huge
