Pans labyrinth is an intense movie of a young girl struggles to break free of the restraints of being a child and the cruelties of living through Spanish fascism. Pans labyrinth is anything but your ordinary ‘time filling’ movie. It has great depth and an intricate web of occult and archetypal symbols. Guillermo del Toro, the director, does not shy away from exposing the harshness of reality and the intertwined fantasy. This one of a kind movie gives you a rare moment to see the world with a different light. You begin to appreciate the beauty of Mother Nature and life. It brings up the question of have people living in the materialistic world of the 21st century lost sight of what is real. The movie’s compelling storyline, rich

The Maze Runner by James Dashner is about a boy named Thomas who enters the glade. The glade is full of unique cultures, different personalities, peculiar societies, boys, and most importantly, a maze. The maze is a colossal structure, with numerous walls that move every night, making it even more difficult to figure out. The maze also closes at night, this is when the Grievers come out. The grievers are metallic monsters with six legs and spongy skin, if you get stung by the grievers you will go mentally insane, and the only way to save you is the grief serum.
Doomsday. Armageddon. 2012. The end of the world or the apocalypse is known by its many names and has become an extremely viral subject for this generation. But, imagine living in a world not playfully joking around about the apocalypse, but strategically trying to survive it. This is the harsh reality for Thomas, a teenager living in a virus polluted and self-destructing planet. A deadly disease has broken out called “the flare” which causes the most sane and rational people to become raging and hysterical flesh eaters. Not only has the virus taken the lives of millions, but the extreme climates have also killed the few remaining. In the novels The Maze Runner and The Scorch Trials, Thomas and his friends will have to fight to survive a
A 11-year-old in dim horn-rimmed glasses, Jordan is a lover of Minecraft, the PC diversion in which you make things out of virtual squares, from confounding towers to whole urban areas. He as of late read "The Maze Runner," a science fiction thriller in which young people live inside a booby-trapped maze, and was enlivened to come up with his own rendition — something he then would challenge his companions to explore.
In The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, the readers start off following Amir in 1970s Afghanistan. Amir is a rich child who lives with his father and their servants. Their servants are Ali and his son Hassan. Hassan and Amir are best friends. One day, the two boys run into the town bully Assef. Assef threatens them because Hassan is a Hazara which is basically a second class citizen. Hassan then threatens Assef with a slingshot pointed at his eye and he escapes with Amir. Amir has a inadequate relationship with his father, Baba. Baba and Amir do not share the same interests. For instance, Amir writes a story and tries to show it to his father. Instead of reading the story, Baba’s friend Rahim Khan reads it and praises Aamir
The founder of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud, developed a wide variety of psychoanalytic theories that are often used to analyze a diverse body of literary and artistic works. An example being, the Family Romance theory. It is an abnormal state of mind a child enters during the pre-pubescent stage. It consists of the child fantasizing that they are not the biological son or daughter of their parents. This occurs when a parent fails to reciprocate affection to their child; consequently, urging them to seek retaliation through imaginary means. The Family Romance theory explains the cultural phenomenon behind children detaching themselves from their parents in order to gain independence. It is a psychological concept featured within the family dynamic of Guillermo del Toro's 2006 film ‘Pan's Labyrinth’. ‘Pan's Labyrinth’ depicts the aftermath of the Spanish Civil War through the eyes of Ophelia, an innocent child, and the magical realm she comes across in the woods. In the film, it is Ophelia's lack of a father figure, rivalry between
"Hassan!” I called. “Come back with it!” He was already turning the street corner, his rubber boots kicking up snow. He stopped, turned. He cupped his hands around his mouth. “For you, a thousand times over!” he said.
The Maze Runner is an adventure-action book by James Dashner. The time that the story was placed in is about the 2040s and is in a big maze-forest area called the glade. The world is being scorched by the sun and some really amazing scientists put a handful of geniuses to figure out how to survive.
The Maze Runner is all about a teenager named Thomas who arrives at a glade with a bunch of other people like Alby, Newt, Gally, Minho, Chuck, etc. Thomas has no memory of what happened before he arrives at the glade just like the others who did before Thomas. There is a Maze in the glade that is known to get the people out of the glade. There are runners who explore the maze, the people that were at the glade are Minho, Ben and some other people who weren’t mentioned in the story. The story or the theme mainly focuses on the people’s relationships and friendships throughout the story as they explore the Maze to find there way out.
“That was a long time ago, but it’s wrong what they say about the past, I’ve learned, about how you can bury it. Because the past claws its way out. Looking back now, I realize I have been peeking into that deserted alley for the last twenty-six years.” (Hosseini 1-2) Khaled Hosseini published the book The Kite Runner in 2003. This book includes the characters Amir, Hassan, Baba, Rahim Khan and many more. This book is mainly about Amir’s childhood in Kabul, his move with baba to California, and lastly his return to Kabul. Amir is also someone who falls in the shadow. He doesn't really know who he is because of the things that happened to him in the past. In this book he also gives the reader an understanding of what
There was continually something about specific parts of The Muppets that frightened me, as much as I adore them! I particularly recall one portrayal on a VHS called 'Gonzo's Muppet Weird Stuff' that had Jim Henson and Frank Oz executing as two singing animals using their own mouths flipped around, it was frightening! There was something unsettling about the passages paving the way to the Gorg's kingdom in 'Fraggle Rock'. Be that as it may, nothing was more alarming than the introductory appearance of the trolls in Henson's 1986 film Labyrinth.
The desire to feel loved and wanted by your parents can drive a person to go to extreme limits to get that love. One boy that goes to these extreme limits is Amir. All Amir wants is to have a good, strong relationship with his father. He feels the death of his mother was his fault, and he needed to make it up to his father. In doing so, Amir let’s horrible things happen to his friend Hassan. Many many years later, after fleeing to America, Amir returns to Afghanistan in search of redemption of his actions all those years ago. The theme of The Kite Runner written by Khaled Hosseini is redemption. Through Amir’s life, that’s what he’s been doing to himself, trying to redeem himself from his acts that have brought pain
