Crime and victimization should include more privacy. Crime reporting is at an all time high being biased. The media have a tendency to take a stance of guilt before a verdict is rendered. Often the "incident" is limited to criminal activity and previously it was not uncommon for the legal language within the clause to even mandate that an actual conviction of a crime be present before the deal is terminated. The truth is out there

The O.J Simpson trial went down in history as one of the most televise trial in American history. With 24-hour new coverage the trial attracted a multitude of audience. The trial had a lot of marketing opportunities. Whether it be from selling stories or T.V appearance, there was money to be made. Media reporters took every opportunity to bring in audience with hot debates on whether he did it or not. The case was televising for 134 days on television and trial took more than 8 months.
On June 13, 1994 Nicole Brown-Simpson and Ronald Goldman were found stabbed to death outside the Simpson home. The murders would start a chain reaction into what would be known as the “Trial of the Century” and become the most watched trial on national television. The prosecution chose to file this case in Los Angeles instead of Santa Monica, where the crime was committed, due to a poll that was taken where Caucasians believed Simpson was guilty and African Americans believed he was not guilty. Three months after the murders the jury pool started with 250 potential jurors with the judge, the prosecuting and defending lawyers and OJ himself.
Dershowitz explains that two very different Simpson trials were carried out: the trial before the jury and the trial before the public (Dershowitz 140). Dershowitz also supplies the strong assertion that television coverage of a trial brings “greater accuracy, less bias, and more direct observation of the trial” (Dershowitz 147).
How does a case get considered for review? Usually, it just takes an application. LIke on the www.law.umich.edu/clinical/innocenceclinic/page. There is an application to file out and submit to the unit for review. Family, the party convicted, friends or just someone who feels the person is innocent, can submit the
The proponents of cameras in the courtroom also believe that televised trials would educate the public on courtroom procedure and rules of the court. The media believes that as the viewers watch real trials on television, they would become more aware of the rules of the court and they would become more aware of the basic procedures courts have to follow. An example of how cameras in the courtroom would educate the public would be the all famous O.J. Simpson trial. The O.J. Simpson trial educated the public on rules of evidence with the “bloody glove” display, the cross-examination of key witnesses with the examination of Mark Furman, and what role the judge plays in the process. The media believes that if cameras where not allowed inside O.J. Simpson trial, then the public for the most part would still not understand the true workings of the court system. Kimberlianne Podlas note that televised trials will educate the public by giving them a reference for what the court system is, “its fairness, and who the arbiters of justice are” (Podlas, 2001). Podlas also explains that the O.J. Simpson trial lead more people to watch and gain a understanding and respect for the judicial system as well as gaining knowledge of the legal concepts and burdens of the system (Podlas, 2001).
This increases the quality of prosecution cases and the quality of police
In today’s society, media is present in our lives 24/7 allowing it to have a major influence on our culture in both positive and negative ways.
The Publics good eye for court cases. As the people know Court Cases have been on television for a minute now. Court cases on T.V bring out entertainment, Seriousness(federal), and Judgement. The Media influence in the people, changing their life, their choices, their customs and public opinion. The media affects the way we act and think. It has a profound influence on the behavior of its audience. When people try to emulate something that we had seen or heard, are they capable enough to distinguish between right from wrong? Young people often imitate their role models blindly. What is being highlighted in the entertainment industry is the wrongdoings of these celebrities whom the young people idolize. And because they are heroes in the youth’s minds, they are still celebrated despite the bad behavior they have been showing to the public.
Since the beginning of civilization there has been crime. While what is considered a crime, and how people are punished for crimes has changed drastically over time, there has always been crime. Criminologist recognized that having the ability to track and analyze crime data could be very useful. Knowing what kinds of crimes are being committed, by whom, where, and how often could help them better understand crime, and even help prevent it. The first major system to track crime nationally was the Uniform Crime Reports. After using the system for some time weaknesses were identified and a plan was made to create an updated system to provide more information on crime, in a more timely matter. The development of the National Incident-Based Reporting
The draft is coming along very well, in my opinion. I am really enjoying writing this piece because I like that I am acting as a journalist in it. I now understand something that many in our society do not. Therefore, exposing the truth behind our reliance on technology is something cathartic. I want others to read what I have written because I want them to understand the same things I now do about the corporations that silently own our data, and subsequently us. Furthermore, the biggest hurdle so far is trying to write over two-thousand words on my topic. It requires me to dig deep in order to overcome it, and to find as many examples as possible. I do not want to write meaningless things just to meet the word count, so I take this obstacle as a challenge. It is one that I know I defeat with a little more research and self-reflection on my opinion on the issue. The thing that keeps me going is that little voice in the back of my mind that I am letting others know about a topic that is not covered as much in the mainstream media. This is important to uncover the truth, and then expose those who are trying to keep those facts a secret from the general public. Also, I believe that the only thing you can do to help is to critique my paper during our conference. This will help me to see if I am going in the right direction with my piece.
Mass Media is a major part of the everyday lives of American citizens. Mass media provides the public the means for obtaining information, and knowledge about various aspects of life such as the economy, foreign affairs, weather, entertainment, crimes, and last but not least, politics. ”The media are key institutions in our society. They affect our culture, our buying habits, and our politics. They are affected in turn by changes in our beliefs, tastes, interests and behavior”(Biagi, 11). The media covers countless accounts of policies, politicians, debates, and speeches all relating to the presidency. The role of mass media has become a crucial component of the presidency, mass media is a tool for the president to promote his policies,
The Role of Media in the Society Media has always played a huge role in our society. For a long time media was one of the methods of controlling people and leisure. In ancient times when there was no newspapers and television, people used literature as source of information, some books like "the Iliad", and different stories about great kings, shows those people the information about them. Nowadays media is one of the main part of our lives and our society, because we use word media, to combine all sources of information. Average man is spending 4 hours a day on watching TV and reading newspapers.
