The Great War brought on the end of romanticism and the dawn of modernism. We begin to see the shift between the two styles as the industrial age provides more technology, knowledge, and ways of communication. Due to the accessibility of ideas from across the globe, we started to become aware: aware of our surroundings, the conflicts, the wars, the death. And with this new knowledge, people gave up on these picture-perfect, romantic dreams and just settled for harsh reality.
