The Meyers Briggs ISTP Personality Type The Meyers-Briggs personality test is a self-administered test used to determine a person 's personality type based on their preferences and self-perception. According to this test my personality type is ISTP which stands for introversion, sensing, thinking, and perceiving. In this essay, I will discuss the impact of these preferences in my life and my opinion of the results of the Myers-Briggs test. The Introversion, Sensing, Thinking, and Perceiving (ISTP) personality type is known as the "mechanics" or the "virtuosos"; they are quiet, analytical, and tolerant individuals that tend to use logic and experience to solve problems. They value efficiency and spend their lives analyzing what makes things work and use that knowledge to calmly and rationally when approaching a task. They can be seen as aloof and callous due to their difficulty communicating and tend to offend others with their humor. The ISTP is a thrill seeking action oriented person who tends to be good under pressure but has difficulties in social situations. I believe that this is a fairly accurate assessment of myself, I am in the military and have continually sought out the next hurdle to jump or mountain to climb simply because I feel driven to do so. I worked a desk job for a little over a year and simply couldn 't stand it.
