Introduction The purpose of this report is to look at the four models of human behaviour including: amoeba, rat, computer and actor and to try and determine if any of these four models of behaviour influenced the actions of the pilots aboard either the Chembulk Houston or the Monte Alegre. The report will also look at what other factors may have influenced the decisions of each of the pilots during while the overtaking manoeuvre was being performed and also up to the point the two ships collided. The four models of human behaviour identified throughout the incident. The two people that shall be studied in the report are the two ships pilots from the Houston Pilots Association. The deputy pilot aboard the Chembulk Houston and the pilot whom was aboard the Monte Alegre. The first pilot to review will be the deputy pilot aboard the Chembulk Houston. The deputy pilot was still an apprentice in his second of two years training to become a full pilot. The deputy pilot learnt via the very high frequency (VHF) radio that the tugboats for the Monte Alegre had been delayed and he also learnt that the pilot aboard the Monte Alegre had decided to slow his vessel down. The deputy pilot aboard the Chembulk Houston contacted the pilot aboard the Monte Alegre via the VHF radio at about 12:49pm and suggested that the Chembulk Houston overtake the Monte Alegre.
