The automobile industry is a very large industry in the United States and globally.
As most people know, automobiles release of emissions play a huge roll in why global warming is happening. In other words, automobiles have an enormous impact on the environment. However, some new technologies are working to lesson the impact on the environment by automobiles. Some technologies are even trying to eliminate it all together.
In this paper I shall discuss these topics and then talk about some consumer opinions about these topics.
“Today, the modern global automotive industry encompasses the principal manufacturers,
General Motors, Ford, Toyota, Honda, Volkswagen, and DaimlerChrysler, all of which operate in a global competitive marketplace.” (Global Automobile Industry)
“The International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers show that the the countries that manufactured the most vehicles were, in descending order, China, the U.S.,
Japan, Germany, and South Korea.” (Global Automobile Industry) Increasing global trade has allowed the growth in world commercial distribution systems, which in turn has expanded global competition amongst the automobile manufacturers.
Now, let’s talk about automobile emissions. Emissions produced by one individual car are generally low. However, “in numerous cities across the country, the personal automobile is the single greatest polluter, as emissions from millions of vehicles on the road add up.” (Automobile Emissions: An Overview) There are
Introduction Automobile usage has increased in America and elsewhere in the world. In a research done by Sutherland, J., et al. (2004) “The US has a contributed to 200 million passengers in cars and light truck over the past few years. Further in 1990, studies showed that US cars increased six times faster than human population. The leaders in the automotive industry must adopt some key elements to ensure success in this fast-moving environment. They must invest in knowing their markets, building brands, adapting product strategies and taking long-term view on their goals and objectives. This paper outlines some of the key factors which should be considered. Environmental factors automotive designers and engineers have always said the main threats in the American Automotive industry are the environmental factors such as fuel economy and the clean air regulations. Automotive Emission posed different problems than manufacturing discharges such as coal smoke. Increased fossil-fuel emission has resulted from the million car increase. Irritation smog, which is comprised of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, sulfur oxide and other various chemical mixtures are cited in major cities such as Los Angeles. These auto emissions are also said to cause headaches, visual pollutions, contribute to lung cancers and other respiratory disease. In the end, the engineers have designed cars that are better environmental performers, cost effective and fuel efficient to reduce the environmental
Alongside the uprising rate of cars and the steady growth of GHG emitted, is the influence our vehicles
We all know that the Global Warming is a serious issue to be addressed. This is the right time to realize the importance of eco-friendly products to save the earth from global warming and its ill effects. Unfortunately the automobile emissions are the second largest contributors for the green house gases.
Motor vehicles are a leading source of air pollution. Even though automobile and truck engines have become far cleaner in recent decades, the sheer
Every day, millions of Americans turn on the engines of their cars and drive to school or work. What these people do not realize is that the vehicles they operate greatly pollute the planet. According to the Environmental Protection Agency’s recent website post, “Environmental Impacts from Automobiles”,
The American Auto Industry, in the form of vehicles it produces, account for almost one-fifth of emissions in the United States. Subtracting emissions created from production,
Automobile pollution increases global warming and causes severe damage to environmental and public health. Carbon dioxide emissions from automobile engines are the leading cause of global warming (Ridlington & Madsen, 2014). Temperatures across the country are experiencing a significant increase causing ice to melt and a rise in sea level. This results in frequent coastal flooding that consequently comes with devastating outcomes such as high
The American automotive industry is a massive force, to say the least. The historical impacts of automotive technology and assembly line manufacturing has effected economies around the world and has also created world-wide ecological challenges. Governments, under pressure from environmentalists, have had to realize, create, implement, and constantly refine manufacturing and emission standards. Consumers, who foot the gas bill for vehicles, continue to express their desire for less expensive autos that require less fuel without sacrificing style, comfort, safety, or performance.
First of all, cars pollute the atmosphere with horrible gases. In the article, “Running off the Road” by Grover Kingsley, it says, “The auto is a huge contributor to greenhouse gas emissions…a whopping 28% of emissions came from transportation…cars constantly
All over the world people are noticing that the impact of car is greater than we first anticipated. The carbon emitted from the manufacturing of the mass produced vehicle industry is slowly but surely ruining our ozone. Since the beginning of the car era to now they have been one of the top things depleting our ozone, they have done most of the damage which happens to be 80% of the total destruction. So ask yourself, What’s My TireTrak? This growing problem is happening everywhere, where cars are. The scariest of this entire problem is that we can’t get the ozone that we have lost, back! So if we want to start to help out the environment, we’d better start now.
“Automobiles have a large impact on the quality of our environment and public health. Automobile use affects virtually every aspect of environmental quality - including noise levels, air quality, water pollution, and urban sprawl. Ninety percent of the environmental impact of automobiles occurs through the operation of the cars: about 10 percent from the production, raw materials and disposal of
Just like the other industries such as apparel, electronics, and consumer goods, the automobile industry has accelerated its foreign direct investment, cross border trade and global production. The automobile industry has increased outsourcing and bundled value chain activities in major supplier chains. As a result, more developed countries that serve as suppliers have increased their involvement in trade and FDI. With these increased supplier capabilities, large national suppliers have become global suppliers and are now controlling multinational operations. This is because of their increased capability of providing good and services to various lead firms all over the world. The automotive industry has a distinct firm structure. This
challenges, however, are the most difficult ones to face and overcome. Some environmental issues that

Automobiles are a major producer of greenhouse gas. One gallon of fuel burned puts five pounds of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Let’s say that an average car gets 25 miles to the gallon, and that car has a ten gallon tank. Every time a car gets filled up with gas, another fifty pounds of carbon dioxide have been put back into the atmosphere, and that is just one car. The automobile industry is very important to the world economy, so I am not saying that we should stop making cars, but there are other solutions. The recent trend of hybrid electric cars that get up to fifty miles to the gallon are becoming more popular. Also public transportation is very important. City dwellers that live downtown, do not need to drive their cars to work. Every major city has a form of public transportation that can get anyone around the city, and for that gallon of gas a bus burns the same five pounds reaches the atmosphere, but instead of one
