Everyone at some point in their life struggles with something. Whether it be a conflict with their own self or with someone else. In life there will always be conflicts with people, because it is the civilized versus uncivilized. Where there is a struggle, there can be a resolution. The writer of inspirational pieces, known as “Richard Connell was a popular author and journalist whose short stories were regularly published in magazines, (American literature.com)”. “His story, The Most Dangerous Game is his best remembered work”. In this story, “The Most Dangerous Game”, a man named Rainsford ends up on an island owned by General Zaroff and finds out that hunting is not just for animals it is also against people. The issue is the General wants Rainsford to play his hunting game, so the General can win and kill him. In the story Rainsford said,” Hunting? Great Guns, General Zaroff, what you speak of is murder”. General Zaroff does not see it as murder though, he believes it is the same as hunting an animal. The General only cares to get the excitement out of killing another man that tries to beat his wits and makes others believe it is only a sport to him. Thus, Rainsford’s only chance at living is to play the game and win so he can get off the island. The General gains thrill out of hunting and he gained fear from becoming bored killing just animals, so he chooses to kill man. The struggle with society is they do not know it is they who are being hunted on the island, not animals. General Zaroff believes it is not murder, but yet Rainsford and the rest of society can see it is not moral to murder someone. The General said, “it supplies me with the most exciting hunting in the world. No other hunting compares with it for an instant. Every day I hunt, and I never grow bored now, for I have a quarry with which I can match my wits”. In that quote it expresses, how the general does not think of his actions only the fact he thinks he is the smartest hunter and society is being brainwashed into coming on the island. It is the same with the society today, because everyone believes what someone else says in fear of accepting the consequence of what the truth
