In the small village in Baghpat district, India, two dalit sisters, 23-year-old Meenakshi Kumari, and her 15-year-old sister was ordered by a khap panchayat-an unelected all-male village council, to be raped & paraded naked as punishment for their brother 's elopement, according to Amnesty International. The family has filed a Supreme Court petition seeking protection after being victims of harassment and violence by the police. Thousands have signed a petition to stop such horrific sentence and have both sisters, and their family, return to safety to their home. This isn 't the first case of the unspeakable truth about rape in India, the murder of Jyoti Singh Pandey, a 23-year-old who was beaten and gang raped by six men while travelling in a private bus with a friend. After two days, Jyoti died of her injuries sparking international outrage and public protest in New Dehli. A difficult and touchy subject not only in India but, throughout the globe. The truths surround rape culture have become such a taboo it is almost impossible to get any survivors to share this subjugation tale of horror. In another part of the world, Linda Forsell, a Swedish photographer, is the creator of a new series of photographs at the cruel reality that many girls in Guatemala face. In a report for Buzzfeed, Forsell has shown the macabre circumstances, many women have gone through since an early age; Forsell explains she was shocked at the normalization of incest in many parts of the country.
