With the NFL playoffs on the horizon, the Minnesota Vikings are flying high with the NFC North division title and one of the best records in the NFC. With everything is going right at quarterback, the team will have to make an important decision involving Case Keenum, Sam Bradford and Teddy Bridgewater come to the off-season. With all 3 quarterbacks set to be free agents, which of them will stay longer than this season? Teddy Bridgewater Drafted by the team with the 32nd pick in the first round of the 2014 draft, Teddy Bridgewater has potential to be the franchise quarterback that can lead the team to the next level. In his four seasons with the team, Bridgewater has thrown for 6,150 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 22 interceptions with …show more content…
In the last year of his rookie deal and about to become an unrestricted free agent in a few months, Bridgewater value is not as high as it would be thanks to the injury which is good for Minnesota. The team can't lose him, so taking a gamble on him being fully healthy is the best option. With the way Keenum is playing now, would not surprise me if Bridgewater leaves this off-season if he isn't promised his starting job back or at least a fair chance to earn his job back. Prediction Bridgewater resigns with the team on a one to two-year contract. After his injury, it is not smart to lock him up long term. Signing Bridgewater to a short-term 1 to a 2-year deal would be the best option for the team and would give Bridgewater the chance to earn his starting job back and prove why he deserves a big long-term extension. Not a lot teams besides Minnesota will likely not be interested due to his injury. Sam Bradford Just after losing Bridgewater and the season approaching fast, the team acquired Sam Bradford from the Philadelphia Eagles for a 1st round pick in the 2017 draft. In 15 starts last season, Bradford threw for 3,877 yards, 20 touchdowns, 5 interceptions, 99.3 passer rating and a 71.6 completion percentage which is a Vikings team and league record for the highest season completion percentage. In games against teams with a top 10 pass defense, Bradford was 4-1 throwing for 1,210 yards, 8 touchdowns, and 1
Different quarterbacks have different strengths and weaknesses, and each one is better suited for a particular playing style. Quick and athletic quarterbacks for example are able to go on a run before throwing passes, while others prefer to stay behind their offensive linemen and pass the ball. Others are better at throwing the ball long distances, others short. Their whole skillset is defined by attributes such as acceleration, strength, throw power etc. When selecting your team, bear in mind that your quarterback should suit your playing style. Remember to always check his stats and make your decision based on whether he is the right player for you or not.
As much as Broncos fans were joyful for the win over the Patriots on November 30th, it only deepened the conundrum that surrounds the mile-high team. This issue lies around Denver’s two quarterbacks, Peyton Manning and Brock Osweiler. Peyton Manning, who once seemed like a paragon for the sport is now slipping from football fame. After leaving the Colts, a team where he had success, Denver seemed like the perfect place to continue his legacy. With eager fans, a strong defense, and a former Bronco QB as general manager, who wouldn’t want join that opportunity. However, football is a challenging and fickle sport, and this winter season especially seems to be a difficult one for Manning. With too many interceptions, and a recent plantar fascia injury to his left foot, he’s
All three of these outstanding college quarterbacks went on to lead less than stellar lives in the NFL. Each were top recruits in their class when coming into the college world and were sot after by many NFL teams, much like Deshaun Watson. With the similarities so astounding, this begs the question; is Watson ready for the NFL?
Peyton manning was a heisman winning Quarterback coming out of the University of Tennessee who was projected as a top 2 pick in the 1998 Draft but it was debated on Who was going to go first overall to the colts Manning or Ryan Leaf, in the end Manning went First to the Colts and Leaf went second to the Chargers. That started a run in Indianapolis that lasted over a decade with Manning at the helm of two super bowl appearances and one win before in 2010 when manning learned that he needed neck fusion surgery which cut his 2011 campaign with the colts short. Without manning at the helm the colts tanked to the first overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft to which they drafted his successor, Andrew Luck. Now in the Colts Owner John Dorsey,s eyes Manning had become expendable and decided to release manning that same off season. Manning then signeda four-year deal with the Denver Broncos, While with the broncos in 2013,Manning lead the highest scoring offense in NFL history, a record previously help by Tom Brady’s Patriots in 2007. Not only that but he also
Jameis Winston has threw for 60 touchdowns and 10,000 yards for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in just three years. He is the second youngest to ever throw for 10,000 yards. Winston has been the heart and soul of the team since his arrival despite the odds he has faced on and off the field.
Then of course, there is also the conundrum of holding a future franchise QB as a keeper. Six quarterbacks were selected in the first three round of this year’s NFL draft, but one in particular jumps off the board as ultra-intriguing.
3rd round (83rd overall) - Derek Rivers, DE, Youngstown State: Rivers is a 6'4" defensive end/linebacker hybrid who excelled in the FCS under head coach Bo Pelini. A late bloomer, Rivers made a huge jump his junior year, before dominating the FCS this past season as a senior opposite Avery Moss, a fifth round draft pick of the New York Giants.
Taking nothing from him, he at the very least doesn't turn the ball over. Only one interception is his two starts. One of the biggest concerns many people have noticed with him is at times he holds on to the ball a little longer than necessary in the pocket which causes him to get sacked more than he should. Although, he improved that much more in the game against New England than he did against the Chicago Bears the prior
Ron Wolf of the Green Bay Packers had a feeling about Brett Favre the next year and pursued the idea of trading for him. When this process was taking place Brett had to pass his physical exam. The doctors told Wolf that Brett would last five years tops, because of a hip condition similar to what took hall a famer Deon Sanders out of the league. Wolf went with his gut feeling and traded first round draft pick Tony Smith for Favre. Brett came to Green Bay still in the shadows as he was backing up starting quarterback Don “Magic Man” Majkowski at the time. In the third game of the season, Majkowski sustained an injury to a ligament in this foot. Favre trotted onto the Lambeau Field not knowing that this would be one of his numerous come from behind victories. Down 23-17 with 1:07 to go in the fourth quarter, Brett drove the Pack the length of the field, once again throwing the game winning touchdown pass to defeat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The most galling reality: The Browns could have drafted Watson with the 12th pick. Instead, they traded the pick to the Texans.
With the young Prescott playing like an MVP combined with Romo’s recent injury history and old age, it’s only logical to conclude that Romo’s career in Dallas is over. It would be a colossal mistake for Romo to take the field for the Cowboys ever
These are some facts about Teddy Bridgewater. Teddy Bridgewater wears gloves to throw and he is really good at throwing also at handing off. In addition he went to ULC & NU for college. He scored 38 touchdown passes in 2016 and he made 6,150 passing yards in 2014 and 2015 altogether. He would have had more but he dislocated his knee in a practice
Handcuffed with the lack of first round picks due to the aftermath of the nationwide epidemic known as Deflategate, the draft picks made by the New England Patriots was always going to be an intriguing watch. Bill Belichick is renowned around the league as the type of general manager who is very aggressive with his moves in the draft, a microcosm of his personality.
It would be foolish for the Eagles to even consider getting rid of Blount, based off his preseason struggles.
One of the team’s biggest strengths is their powerhouse offense. But the man under center is what makes that powerhouse offense run. That man is Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks in the league if not the best. His statistics are unbelievable. He has the highest quarterback rating in NFL history at 103.8, while the second closest is 98.9. He has thrown 300 touchdowns to only 74 interceptions. That being a 4:1 touchdown to interception ratio, also the best in NFL history. One of his most impressive streaks was his success at home. In 2015, he threw an interception at home. The last one he threw at home before that was in 2012. He went three years without throwing an interception at home. Truly a remarkable feat. In 2011, Aaron had one of the best seasons
