One of the most influential modern inventions came out of the Industrial Revolution. At this time business, commerce, and production was booming. This transformation took place from around 1750 to the 1900’s; it initially began in Great Britain, because of the natural resources, population growth which led to a demand, government encouragement, introduction of financial modernization, and global commerce and competition. The Industrial Revolution is seen as a major turning point in history because of all the major developments in industry. Although many inventions came out of this expansion of comprehension in technology and production, the most impactful was the Steam Engine. In a way, the steam engine increased production, which then caused people to move to the city, and work in factories. When people were in such tight quarters disease and sickness spread easily. Workers in the factories were paid low wages, were affected by the byproducts of the machines, and were often involved in machine accidents which resulted in physical deformities and sickness. The steam engine is otherwise known as an external combustion engine because it burns on the outside; one could argue that the external combustion urged on the creation of the internal combustion system. The internal combustion system is relatively smaller and more efficient; it is used in most , if not all, methods of transport. This ranges from cars to airplanes to ships;the internal combustion engine is widely used, and accessible to common people. Therefore, the steam engine was the most crucial and influential invention of modern times, due to the effect it had during the industrial revolution, and the progress made based on it. The steam engine will continue to leave its mark on the 200 years that it transcended and modeled for the highest and most powerful driving force of the industrial
