When rap music was born, DJ Kool Herc is a Jamaican-American who originated hip hop in the early 1970s in Bronx, New York. His music brought people together to have a great time. Today, hip hop artists rap about inappropriate behavior, violence, sex and drugs. Kids in today’s time, were behaving with so much disrespect all because of inappropriate rap. Why can’t rap music be more non-violent? Rap music shouldn’t involve with violence because it sends negative messages to influence children to be more violent and it will lead people to make bad choices. According to the research, it says hip hop is one of the popular music genre’s biggest influence to viewers even children. “Over the course of the one-year study, there were three times more likely to hit a teacher, over 2.5 times more likely to get arrested, twice as likely to have multiple sexual partners, 1.5 times more likely to get a sexually transmitted disease, and use drugs or drink alcohol.” (Sid Kirchheimer).
