The Olivet Discourse is in reference to the nation of Israel and not the Church. Jesus was speaking of Gods future program for the nation of Israel. However, it is important to know that in discussing this Discourse, we should put into the context Daniel 9: 24-27 and Revelation 6: 1-19 and 21, which refer to the future seven-year period called the tribulation. Jesus in Mathew 23, spoke to the Pharisee about judgment, culminating in the seven “woe” statement. On leaving the temple in chapter 24, the disciples called his attention to the buildings on the temple mount. Jesus in verse 2, tells them forthrightly that “not one stone here will be left on another; everyone will be thrown down.” A prophecy fulfilled in 70AD when the Romans destroyed Jerusalem. The magnificent Temple was destroyed. This prophecy got concerned and when Jesus was alone with the disciples on the Mount of Olives in verse 3, they asked him, "Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?" What follows in Matthew 24–25 refers to the future, seven-year tribulation period and the second coming of Christ at the end of the tribulation. During that time, God will complete His chastisement and purification of Israel and after the judgment of the whole world (Daniel 9:24-27; Revelation 6–19). Verses 4-8, refers to the first half of the tribulation, verse 5 tells of the coming of false Messiahs, in verses 6 and 7, the threats of widespread conflicts and
Everyone has discourses, but not everyone knows what a discourse is. In the article, Gee explains what discourses are, and how they are obtained. So what are they? Discourses are basically things that you are knowledgeable in that make you, you. For example, some of my discourses include being a Lacrosse player, being an American man, and being an Engineering student. While some are easily obtainable, some discourses are simply impossible to obtain, but they are forever changing as you discover new things about yourself.
The third looming prophecy has yet to completely be fulfilled, however a significant amount of ongoing issues indicate the contents within the prophecy may possibly be on the verge of resurfacing in the near future. Contrary to the previous restorative prophecies, the message of the prophecy located in Ezekiel chapter thirty-eight predicts destruction. The language within the prophecy states, “When my people of Israel are established securely, will you make your move? Will you attack that land of Israel? Fueled by blazing jealousy, I tell you that then there will be an earthquake that rocks the land of Israel. I’ll order all-out war against Gog. I’ll deluge Gog with judgment: disease and massacre, torrential rain and hail, volcanic lava pouring down on you and your mobs of troops and people.” By approaching current ongoing events mindful of the emphasis Ezekiel placed on recognizing the inevitable destructive forces around him before they happened, society today is reminded that there are situations that are uncontrollable, and
I hope you are feeling better. Just forwarding this paperwork from Omega, although I sent it yesterday since looks like I got it again twice. Figured you most likely would not be in today, so went down and introduced myself to Laura and delivered her travel folder so she is good to go. Take care of yourself and feel
The seventh trumpet seems to be signaling the end of these judgments, or the end of the great tribulation because the Holy Spirit, mention the coming of the Kingdom of God. It is the end of the kingdom of the world, where Satan rule, of which he says (Lk 4.-6) “the kingdoms of the world were given to me”. However, it is not the second coming of Christ, as it could seem.
As stated in verse 26, “And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but, not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city, and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.” In this text, one can easily see that after the Messiah begins his
Although some passages of the Bible can be ambiguous in their nature and meaning, Scripture should be interpreted literally. Since this is true, all Scripture concerning the end times should be studied as being literal. If someone took the time to study the prophecies of the end times literally, they would most likely agree with a pre-tribulation futurist; one who believes that some of the prophecies contained in Scripture have been fulfilled, but the prophecies regarding the second coming of Christ, and the end times are yet to be accomplished. A pre-tribulation futurist would also believe that the rapture of the Church will occur before the seven year span of time known as the “Tribulation”, the time appointed when God will judge mankind and the earth. This view would line up with a literal
This is very important. This is a revelation from Jesus himself, the anointed one. God gave this revelation to show us “what must soon take place.” And we have to take it to heart because “the
During the reign of Hezekiah, Isaiah the prophet spoke from God, prophesying the exile of the Jews and said, “The time will surely come when everything in your palace, and all that your fathers have stored up until this day, will be carried off to Babylon. Nothing will be left” (2 Kings 20:17). These events were fulfilled in 587 BCE during the reign of Zedekiah. King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon besieged Jerusalem, taking all of the people captive in Babylon, at which point the first temple was destroyed (2 Kings 25 & Murphy 93 & 2 Chronicles 36:19).
After Solomon betrayed God and turned to worship other gods, God punished Israel as he had warned: “I will cut Israel off from the land that I have given them; and the house that I have consecrated for my name I will cast out of my sight” (1 Kings 9:6). Jerusalem witnessed the division of the United Monarchy and the decline of Judah after God withdrew his blessings, and it finally fell to the Babylonians in 587 BC. Solomon’s Temple, the most sacred place in the nation where foreigners used to come and pray towards (1 Kings 8:41), became a heap of ruins. Jerusalem at this time is personified in the Book of Lamentations as a widow who “sinned grievously so she has become a mockery; all who honored her despise her, for they have seen her nakedness” (Lamentations 1:8). This destroyed city’s gates were desolate, its king was on exile, and its people were captured by the foe. Jerusalem lost its prosperity (Lamentations 1:3-5). Being a kinetic space, Jerusalem has experienced vicissitudes, and even once lost its holiness as it fell away from
Beneath the water, men shall walk, shall ride, shall sleep, shall even talk... A great man then, shall come and go for prophecy declared it so. In water, iron, then shall float as easy as a wooden boat. Gold shall be seen in stream and stone in land that is yet unknown. And England shall admit a Jew. You think this is strange, but it is true. The Jew that once was held in scorn shall of a Christian then born… I shall be burned at the stake, at one my body singed and my soul set free. You think I utter blasphemy, you’re wrong. These things have come to me. This prophecy will come to be
Matthew 24:15-28 follows the verses talking about the birth pangs that took hold of the whole world and leads to the great tribulation that only occurs in Judea (Mitch and Sri, 307). The trials of tribulation are signs of "the coming of the Son of Man" and the last judgment, which is why Matthew has such an urgent tone in this section (Mitch and Sri, 308). When Jesus speaks, he alludes to the "book of Daniel" by using the phrase "desolating abomination" which refers to "an act of sacrilege" that ceases acts of sacrifice in the temple (Mitch and Sri, 308). The "book of Daniel" refers the "desolating abomination" to the time when "Antiochus IV Epiphanes, in 167 BC, banished the Jewish culture, "seized control of the temple," and "erected a pagan

Also, the Bible said that all these things would happen upon the generation that was alive in 1914. Yet what were prominent world leaders foretelling just before 1914? They were saying that conditions promising world peace were never more favorable. Yet the terrible troubles the Bible foretold began right on time, in 1914! In fact, world leaders now say that 1914 was a turning point in history. After drawing attention to the many things that have marked the period from 1914 onward, Jesus said: 'This generation will by no means pass away until all these things [including the end of this system] occur.' (Matthew 24:34, 14) Which generation did Jesus mean? He meant the generation of people who were living in 1914. Those persons yet remaining of that generation are now very old. However, some of them will still be alive to see the end of this wicked system. So of this we can be certain: Shortly now there will be a sudden end to all wickedness and wicked people at Armageddon." {YCLF
I suppose the verse could find a still further fulfilment on a world-wide scale, but I seems clear that the sudden rise of Trump in tandem with what is happening politically in this country and even around the world, is just one more “coincidence” that seems choreographed by something greater than ourselves. If what has recently happened is the fulfilment of these two prophecies, than the tribulation could start at any moment. A dark time approaches.
Zechariah, experience many visions as we read this great book it puts us in the mind set of an Revelation or Daniel. It’s hard not to get caught up in the apocalyptic style of writing. The writer sucks you in to this almost dream world before you have to pull back and reexamine were you were and the real message that he’s conveying. To keep it simple his message was about encouraging the people to finish what they had started. Rebuilding the temple, throwing in the golden nuggets about the Messiah would come.
