Ownership Starbucks began as a little café in Seattle Washington in 1971, built up by three partners who met in college and trusted in good coffee. They were Baldwin, Bowker and Siegl. Initially Starbuck’s ownership was partnership. After several years Starbucks became huge coffee company and currently being leader of coffee industry. The form of business ownership of company changed to corporation and being managed by stockholders. Shareholders There are many shareholders of company. In addition, the company’s largest shareholders consist of: Howard Schultz, John Culver, Clifford Burrows and Kevin Johnson (Rego, 2016). Starbucks sales were significantly declined in 2007 because of the “lack of focus on customer experience” (Meyer, 2015). After Howard Schultz came to CEO position in 2008, the organizational structure of Starbucks has been reformed: concentered to the customer experience and created new regional divisions. As a result, Starbucks Company improved its customer experience and financial condition. Starbucks has a vertical flow chart that all managers of the specific departments absolutely being responsible to the CEO, Howard Shultz. This chart can be seen in Appendix 2. The Starbucks’ organizational chart exactly shows the chain of command which consist of 3 regional divisions which mentioned above. In its turn, each these divisions also divided into 6 parts. These include the Global Real Estate Design, Global Strategy, HR Strategy, Customer Experience, Marketing and Brand Strategy and the last one Store Expeditors at all locations. This structure has permitted the organization to keep up the vision and direction of Shultz, “by keeping each store consistent with his specific guidelines”. The presidents of each region work closely with Global Consumer Products and Food Service Team for the purpose of continuing successfully.
