You can share the same name as one another, but that definitely does not mean you both share the same destiny. In “The Other Wes Moore” there are two boys which share the same name, but do not quite share the same story. Both of the boys grew up without fathers and in a neighborhood financially struggling. Both mothers working and relying on their parents to watch their children. The author Wes Moore ended up turning into a scholar while the Other Wes Moore ended up being convicted and sentenced to prison. In the end both men made very different choices. The way the author Wes moore grew up and was disciplined was a reason he had grew up to become successful. The author Wes moore had a hard working mother who worked to put food on the table for Wes and his sister. He felt he lacked attention from his mother. He use to be a class clown, ditch class, and had no motivation to go to school. Once the author Wes Moore’s mother found out his grades were going down hill, his mother right away took action and sent him to military school, to straighten him up. She was willing to do the impossible for her son go through the right path. “I love you, and I am proud of you. And Wes, it’s time to stop running.”(96) Wes Moore’s mother was also even trying to pursue a higher education while being in a poor circumstance with the economy, and program cuts.While Wes was in military school dreading to be there, he would call beginning his mother asking if he could come home.
