Acknowledgements I would like to express my appreciation to The Pan American Health Organization, especially Ms. Raquel Graham, Mr. Gary Cooper, Mr. Julian Coakley and Ms. Barbara Sweeting who took the time out of their busy schedule to give information regarding the organization’s duties and answer any other questions.

For example the PWR in the Bahamas has spent three years already in the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos, and have a maximum of 2 more years here, before she is rotated and assigned to another member country. The support staffs are members from different agencies throughout the Ministry of Environmental Health, Department of Public Health, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Finance. Members either put in a request to be transferred to the PAHO/WHO or is recommended by their superior and given a letter to be transferred to the Pan American Health Organization. They could resign from the PAHO/WHO and be transferred back into the Government agency at any time.
The mission of the Bahamas PAHO is to cooperate technically with the Government, Non-Government organizations and the private sector and to stimulate collaboration amongst them. The PAHO Bahamas Office strives to achieve Health for all and all in a healthy environment through the process of sustainable human development. The PAHO/WHO office team has agreed to the concept of operating with a common set of values which is incorporated in the development of a vision for the PAHO Bahamas Office.
