The Paradox of Creativity
When asked to define creativity, why does it have so many meanings? Creativity is one of those words when asked to define, have many definitions because there are many ways to go about being creative. Therefore having a viable meaning of that word is almost impossible because in general creativity varies from one person to the next. When it comes to defining creativity, it is pretty simple, to me is a way to measure one 's imagination, cognitive skills and how you fluently you can use those creative attributes in your day to day life while keeping an open mind to other ideas.
One thing we quickly relate creativity to a lot is having the ability to also be artistic, like being an oil painter, a sculptor or even one or one of the performing arts like ballet. People seem to correlate the two together often and seem to forget the other creative characteristics. Having quick problem solving and quick critical thinking skills are also great traits when it comes to being creative and imaginative.
Take software engineers and gaming programmers jobs for example. These programmers come up with these binary codes and developed new codebases for new virtual worlds in our video games we play. The ingenuity and imagination required to have this attention to detail and environmental diversity you see on screen are so graphic and surreal up to a point where the blades of the grass blowing in the wind in the background. What creativity actually is when you use your imagination, allowing things in the mind to occur that wouldn’t actually occur and also things to better the world. “Being creative is not only about thinking: it is about feeling” (160). You can not just think but you have to have feelings to make sure that you doing things right and feeling like you made something productive in the time. One is called creative when you have the ability to think on your own. Someone who has an idea, method, or plan that is obscure and continues to press through society’s definition of ordinary. This is how I would summarize Hayakawa’s definition of being creative. Someone who envisions an idea, is confident with it, and is willing to risk it all to achieve the expected outcome. I will use three of Hayakawa’s criteria from his article to support my summarization of what it means to be creative.
In order for children to be creative the environment and the experiences they are exposed to will determine their creative learning and creativity. This is closely linked with cultural approaches and role modelling.
My creativity enables me to see things in a different way, a way that may make things simpler or makes them go smoother. I am also very willing to try new ideas as I like to hear what others have to suggest. For example, something may not be working out the way that it was meant to and I can accept that and try any new ideas brought up to me. Listening is also important because someone may point out something that I never realized, and criticism goes along with that. I can take criticism well, and I even encourage it. I am always looking to better myself and it helped build me into the musician and person I am today. Furthermore, I do not fear making mistakes. Mistakes are how we learn, and we will never get anywhere if mistakes are never made.
Creativity is all about the 21st century skills and the future students. One form of creativity they will use is brainstorming. It includes elaborating, analyzing refining, and evaluating ideas to improve and maximize creative efforts (Syrett, 2002). Creativity involves originality, and working with peers to come up with ideas. It will allow you to fail and work on what went wrong and recreate it. In this essay I will explore the correlation between intelligence (IQ) and creativity (DT), and whether one is influenced or can be predicted by the existence of the other. The inventor Tim Berners-Lee, when inventing the WWW, changed the way we communicate, the way we socialise, the way we do research, the way we learn and many other things. This shows creativity, as this one computer network has changed the way of life, and potentially have made things easier. The obvious advantage of the WWW is that every website you can think of is found though this computer system, thus can’t really compare to any website, as if there was no WWW, then these websites would not be existent. Though there could be some negatives such as wrong information, and other factors, the WWW shows creativity because, creativity is about making people see things in different ways,
A closer look at creativity indicates that it is present in painting. For example, going back to what I said in the previous paragraph on how the painting is unique because it is easily recognizable; this also makes it creative. Creative means it is unique; since it is unique then it must mean that the painting is creative. Another example is it contains original patterns, this makes it creative because they are unique. The first step in studying creativity is to define what it is. One of the first issues that must be addressed is the relationship between creativity and high intelligence. Since the same word, genius, is often used to refer to people who are highly creative and also to people who are highly intelligent, a common assumption is that creativity and high intelligence are the same thing. This, however, is a misconception.
The term creativity is used for the purpose of describing the ability that is concerned with the process of creating something new or valuable. This ability allows a person to surpass the rules, practices, methods, forms or similar kind of activities that the traditional society may be performing at that time. Creativity is one of the most important things that have allowed the people of the society to move forward and urge for development. All the development that has been made in various aspects of human life can be directly connected with the creativity. All the industry leaders of the world have secured this place because of the level of creativity and innovation that they showed. They used this creativity for creating something new that has allowed them to develop completely new methods for this purpose.
Creative intelligence is an innate characteristic with which we are born; this is an aspect in the development of our mental
